Which one is better in your opinion and why?
I know someone that used to use Shield Tanks exclusively, and has since switched to Armor Tanks. So I want to know which is better.

Armour. Able to brawl in CQC and the only real tank to fight another tank with.....shield just don't cut it in tank battles..... I haven't been destroyed by one, I probably never will.
You get faster more reliable reps, solid armour res, the only down side is your slower movement speed (easily made up for with a nitrous which costs you no HP unlike shields), and you susceptibility to SL.

They are good in the open at range..... but lack the responsiveness in terms of modules that armour tanks have....we all know shield boosters are pretty......bad.

Tank v. Infantry, Shield tanks are where it's at. Swarm launchers make them smile. People who don't know what they're talking about will claim that Shield tanks are those mythical "unkillable tanks."
Tank v. Tank, Armor all the way.
If armor reps weren't so good, it'd be a matter of personal preference. As it stands, even though shield tanks can stack damage mods and be deadlier at a distance, armor tanks can soak that damage up and close the distance. It's a shame, because I think shield tanks look a lot cooler.
For 1.7, things will be a lot more dependent on player skill. Water cooler chat says Shield missile tanks are going to be hella scary. |

Did they ever fix the armor repairers for armor tank or are they still reping at 5x the amount of HP they're supposed to?

Same... unfortunately...I have yet to make a decent Anti Infantry fit with shields.

Im highly considering speccing into shield tanking when the respec comes along. Probably run rail tank and see what i can do with one. I played armor tank for a bit with gallente logi lav's and hav's a bit but My shield tanks just seem more survivable. Probably because the primary av weapon of choice is the swarm launchers.
Dedicated scout. Because the suit is underpowered. Imagine the good ones when we get buffed people ;)

For most people, the madrugar is the best choice. It is the most adaptable to any situation, and when fit properly, can engage both tanks and infantry with equal effectiveness.
The gunlogi, on the other hand, is a different beast altogether. The key to its power if its 2 low slots which should always have at least 1 damage mod.
When equipped with 2 damage mods, a nitros, and a blaster, it becomes an extremely capeable infantry killer even with a scatterbed blaster, as with roughly a 200% fire rate increase over most madrugars, its low DPS is overshadowed by the ability to actually hit the targets. It's a difficult art piloting a 3200 shield tank, but the best pilots can make it work.
As a tank killer, the gunlogi is once more, a specialists weapon. Equipping either a compressed particle cannon or an XT-201 cycled missile launcher creates a weapons platform (NOT a tank) that can smash through most madrugars armor once their hardeners shut down. it is the only weapon, other than an orbital strike, that can have achance at taking out redline tanks.
Most people would call me crazy for using gunlogis in PC, but it truly is a powerful weapon in the right hands. IMO, Madrugars are for scrubs///

Even considering current builds for tanks at this point is silly since we know all the changes coming down the pipeline Dec. 10th. On that note it still looks like armor is going to be the way to go in the newest build.

scattered blaster 2 damage mods 1 nitros 1 heavy booster 1 hardener 2 passive shield amps
you will not believe it until you see it work. play it like a minmitar scout with a shotgun and you'll find the gunlogi's true power.
other than myself, exmaple is the only other tanker who ive seen make this fit work the way it should, but no reason you shouldnt give it a shot.

Right now? Armor tanks all the way. There isn't a single redeeming feature of shield tanks I can think of of the top of my head in this current build, other than resistance to swarms.
In 1.7? Hard to be certain, since I haven't played it, but it looks like shield tanks will make a big return. They will likely be annihilated by forge guns if they don't get a nerf to coincide with the HP nerf tanks are getting, but bar all else and it looks like armor tanks might be just as useless in 1.7 as shield tanks are right now in 1.6.
