Of course, this is in connection to the recent removal of some BPO. However, I don't want to make yet another thread about that issue. I want to talk about AUR since this is what ppl get reimbursed with. Right now there are only two uses: BPO and Boosters. With BPOs gone (or at least threatened) the only use is boosters - wich is a very slim window of currency application.
Now to the core of this thread: consummables are worthless. They give you nothing. If PC worked, you could make an argument that you would use AUR equivalents when your ISK reserves are running out to hold that key district or otherwise complete your war effort aim.
However, PC is broken. So running AUR gear one way or another is to waste it aimlessly on pubs. Now in a different game with better balance, having a good KDR in pubs means something, it can earn you respect of the community. In DUST it only means one thing: pubstomping with AR-SCR proto logis - a dubious honor.
Side note: $15 a month to run a single booster seems like a high price tag in an f2p game.
So, why buy/have AUR then?
Oh, sht! I just learned you can make a signature! Thanks, CCP! Forums are getting better!

Buying gear with AUR was always stupid anyway. A real merc knows that the biggest advantage in this game comes from having high skill points. You may be dismissive of boosters but the guys with 30 mil+ sp are the ones who are able to dominate in any situation.
Boosters are where all AUR should be spent.

I am not dismissive of boosters. I am saying that now they are the ONLY thing that may justify purchase. But then again they are too expensive for a game of this quality. So, it's hard to make an argument in their favor as well.
As far as 30+ mil SP dominating anything - in this game it does not even mean much since real skill is lost in all the broken components of the game and now counts for little. So when you dominate in an otherwise broken game it just does not count for much.

One use of AUR that i would say may be useful is testing weapons through the consumables before deciding to invest SP into them of course this really only applies to weapons like the LR that do not have a militia equivalent.
I am apparently not the only fool

There is someone at CCP that has a huge hard-on for AUR, and after AUR failed hard in Eve, that person saw an opportunity to slip it into Dust.
The only solid item purchasable with AUR are boosters, and since that wasn't enough, that AUR fetishist decided to ignore all logic, game lore, economic issues, and common sense, and added BPOs.
It was a mistake, and it NEEDs to be corrected.
They should just make boosters a monthly automatic subscription, and they should give people the ability to buy ISK, just like in Eve.

I for one would like that. 5$ a month for passive. 9$ for active 30d boosters. Ppl would actually go for it and CCP would have their cash flow.
