these were useful permanent items.
should we get something useful and permanent?
is 4800 aur fair compensation when a lot of people only paid 50 aur for the item but a lot of others actually paid 4800? should those who only paid 50 get 50, or should those who paid 4800 get an equal increase in aur complimentary to the increase those who paid 50 are getting?
vanity items? ones that are exclusive to those who had these bpo's that no one else could ever get?
please discuss seriously. add your ideas.
nova knife posed this challenge and i would like a mature discussion.
if you don't have these bpo's or you just want to troll, please refrain from posting.
thanks.
First off, +1 for attempting a good and worthwhile discussion ... Too bad it degenerated as your other threads
Second, before I start listing my alternatives (in a attempt to steer this thread in the direction I assume you wanted), I should mention that I regard the current form of BPOs to be totally game-breaking and should not have excited in the first place.
With that said,
1) For BPOs purchased through the in-game store I find Aurum refund perfectly acceptable, even for other BPOs than the 4 vehicle ones that are currently being removed. I don't care if other people might profit from this, since I got what I payed for them back.
2) Optional sell-back: Even if we get to keep the rest of the BPOs unmodified, it will be highly unlikely we ever going to be allowed to trade them freely (as this would totally ruin the economy). So there should be an option to sell your surplus (you only need one of each type, right?) to a NPC for Aurum, ISK or other goods. This way CCP can drain as much as possible of the BPOs away from the market without too much fuss. If you want to keep your 20+ copies, you are allowed to.
3) Convert the BPOs to vanity items, I.e skins to apply to normal suites. These should not change the stats of the suite in any way though. This is not a very good option in my eyes (after thinking about it), since while it's cool to have a unique color scheme, you basically don't get anything as useful in return, but hey, it's permanent
4) Convert the existing BPOs to EVE style, which requires some form of manufacturing. You should be able to produce these for less than the market value, so you could sell them at a profit. However, since most BPOs are militia, I think the existing should be bumped up to advanced. New BPOs for militia (and proto) could then be introduced since ALL equipment in-game needs to be manufactured.
Number 4 is my preferred option, but will require some major work from CCP.
I will end with saying I fully agree with you that there need to be more appealing items available for Aurum in the store. I suspect CCP does as well (they do want to make money), so my suggestion is to hold on to your Aurum refund until then. For me, I will buy some Rail Rifles to try them out before I skill into them. |
