I just don't like the idea of constantly knowing where you opponent at, to me it take the tactical out of the game.
Even a proto scout can't avoid it.( Ok I know that noone use the proto scanner, but now that logistic Gk.0 are fotm they can easily place one because their skill)
Maybe I'll get buff one day

You're not the only one. It's broken.
I mean, it tells you that people are there even if they 'evade' the scan, paints targets for much longer than it takes to recharge, can scan vast areas, is absurdly difficult to avoid...

Scout 5 with 2 complex damps should be able to beat any scanner. Scout 5 with damp 5 only needs a basic to beat the other proto scanners.

Very true. Like the uplink spam, scanner spam has also helped ruin the game for me. There is no tactic or tension to the game anymore. |

with max skills max scout and 1 complex dampener you should be invisible to proto scanners they need to buff stealth |

1x complex dampener will hide a medium suit from a ADV scanner, 2x complex dampeners will hide a medium suit from a proto scanner (except for the flux one).
So, if you really want to flank people you still can, but now you have to dedicate your suit towards it.
And, no, you can't have a fully tanked fit AND expect to be invisible to scanners. Working as intended.

As much as I love the supreme power of Gallente Scanners I do have to say that they need to be toned down. The range, precision and frequency are way too good.
Basic should be able to capture everything that has no mods, skills, or is not a scout outside of specific variations of scanners that can with drawbacks.
Advanced should be able to detect most things that aren't moderately specialized in counter intelligence outside of specific variations of scanners that can with drawbacks.
Prototype should be able to detect most things that aren't heavily specialized in counter intelligence outside of specific variations of scanners that can with drawbacks.
The way things are now, all you need is an advanced scanner, and that's pushing it. The basic is just way too good to give me incentive on skilling up into other levels, mostly because of the range (and it still tells me where covert suits are generally).
There needs to be a system that completely terminates the "Margin of error" message if the target is well below the scan level and give the message when the target is just barely below.
But that's just my two cents worth of a rambling post.
Now time for sleep, I have to get ready for black Friday customers this week.

200 HP, with half your slots used for Comp damps, and the other half for improving speed seems like it a bit UP.
But I feel the thread KERASINO made was the best fix to this.
Scanners would then take a differing amount of time to pick somebody up depending of their radius. It also means that ballerinas cant see everybody inside 100 meters anymore either.
Refunding a few AUR militia Blueprints pertaining to vehicles because their respective modules will not exist anymore

There are a few problems with these Mk 1 Scanners
1) If you didn't successfully scan someone, don't tell them, whats the point otherwise!
2) There are multiple scanners that allow you to tag someone for longer than the charge time, meaning you can have the constantly tagged.
3) While being able to see movements of units is fine, I would prefer this only to apply to a few speacilist scanners, the standard should be snapshots, that only updates the target info every second.

Nah. It's some what overpowered. People will argue against this but there's no real defending against it after a while. Sure you can scan back but that's not really defending... We'd need something that would PROTECT us against being scanned.

what i hate about them is they tell enemies they have been scanned, it is annoying for both sides, i hate how that sign is consistently staying on my screen and hate how it gives away that the enemy has a scanner and know where you are.

I see why nothing gets done on CCP's part . Things work too good and people complain , things not working good enough and people complain ( well deserved ) it's a wonder why they even keep trying to evolve this game because clearly the players are NEVER going to be satisfied .

See if it's meant to give the user the stealth advantage why would it tell the enemy they have been scanned!
every time i get scanned i instantly know to be on alert its kind of ridiculous.

I have a fairly simple solution. In fact I'm surprised no one has mentioned it already. HTFU. Seriously, give it a try, you might like it. After the scanner changes and removal of squad vision i found that i was constantly getting scanned. So now all bar two of my fits run profile dampers and every time i see a scan failed message, i smile and go hunting. Its surprising how far out you can see the scanner beam from. |

I see scan attempt prevented 90% of the time and i'm just running enhanced dampener and scout3...granted i only beat out adv scanners, proto's will still catch me occasionally.
Dedicated scout. Because the suit is underpowered. Imagine the good ones when we get buffed people ;)
