We heavies have had only two weapons since Dust began. I noticed with the most recent dev blog you still don't even have a name for the heavy plasma and laser weapons. WHY??! I did not spec heavy to use my suit as an eHP cocoon to use light weapons. I specced HEAVY to use HEAVY WEAPONS. However, as I see it right now more and more people are disgracing my noble suit with ARs and ScRs instead of heavy weapons because lolHMGs. I refuse to use anything above BPO suits and STD HMG because anyone who can two step can kill a heavy IN HIS OPTIMAL RANGE. This is wrong on so many levels I can't even begin to list them all. Also, why is it that the only race to have a heavy suit can't even provide a weapon for it? I can understand the FG, but I doubt the Minmatar would be willing to collaborate with the Amarr to design a weapon for them to use. Basically what this amounts to is: hurry up and give us heavies a d*mn heavy laser.
TL;DR see sig
How to make a Heavy Laser: 1.Take laser 2.Make it REALLY BIG 3.Give it to the heavy sobbing quietly in the corner.

I've been using the advanced HMG lately and I've noticed only the GEK, Duvolle, and prototype HMG (which is fully understandable) is able to take me on in my optimal range. Everything else is shredded unless it gtfos from my sight and range.
We do need more heavy weapons though.

Yes CCP hates Heavies. I've taken up drinking again, it helps.
Alternatively you can go hard-mode in a light frame. I "lulz" for nova knife kills with the Minja Alt. Always returning to the main reminded of positive aspects the Fatty suit has.
Sorry for getting a bit off topic. Try an LAV/HMG combo. It's a sort-of old classic.

310k+ SP for +0.05m/s (>2in) on a Heavy. Totally worth it.

That's just it. The SMGs aren't able to punch a big as a hole as my HMG is able. I stack my highs with CDMs, so it's a bit rough to take my ass down when I'm hitting 1400 health in just an advanced suit. The Scramblers have to stay out of my optimal range. I had a run in with an ASCR and it couldn't out DPS my HMG. Of course, he made the mistake of running at me. I also kind of like the laser accuracy of the HMG, though it's not right and should be rectified.
Then again, I stick to the close quarters areas, places where there's nowhere to run and nowhere to get the height advantage over me. You never charge a heavy with a HMG into a tunnel. Never. I've lured quite a few people to their deaths by setting them up to a killzone. My favorite is baiting myself to get them into a room where my squad is overlooking.

Sure leading them into your squad is a useful but assists don't pay the bills, kills do and all someone has to do to avoid death by HMG is two step.

Sorry, but I get money all day with more assists than kills on my heavy. HMG and FG ONLY. Or a AR/Sniper on a Commando.

Strafing away hasn't been usable since the strafe speed changes. It always is useless against anyone that is capable of... just... readjusting... aim. That's it. That's all you have to do against strafers. Compensate their movement in your aim. That's what we did in the terrible hit detection, when the scouts circled everything, when you could skip frames strafing. It's what I do now and it hasn't failed me yet.
I don't run heavy constantly. Consider me the "jack of all trades". From the logibro standpoints, assists mean more than kills. One kill does not overturn the death of your team mates. It's better to get an assist and your team live than a kill, then a death, then a steamroll over your team all because you believed you could take on that one guy that you thought was alone. I'll take an assist over a kill. K/D is for those compensating.

I ran scout shotgun through the first four builds of Uprising, the heavy through 1.4 to 1.6, the logibro in all the Uprising builds whenever I went into FW. (Before Uprising, I used pretty much everything evenly. I miss the lightsaber fights we used to have. Don't miss those goddamn proto tanks though.)
There was a time when the HMG was like a lion's roar. It was frightening. The changes happened and the HMG became a kitten's purr. With the upgrades to the hit detection, that little kitten is getting older. He scratches, though that dog of a Plasma Rifle is quick to lash at the kitten's throat.
When I run the HMG, I don't have a sidearm other than the Assault Scrambler Pistol. The only time I have ever had to pull it out was when I ran out of ammo in the clip and have to reload or when I'm out of ammo fully. Both cases are rare, with the second being much more likely. You run into me, you better go for broke. Know that I am. Know that it is only that dog of a Plasma Rifle and the big ass cat that is the prototype HMG can bring my purring ass down. I go for the eyes.

They do have names for the heavy weapons, they just didn't announce them. TBA means To Be Announced.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.
