What's going on is that CCP is removing vehicles and modules and replacing them with entirely new versions, and some people are complaining that CCP is going to remove their BPOs of vehicle related stuff and give them AUR in exchange...
I guess they'd rather keep the BPOs of soon-to-be-nonexistant items that won't work in-game... Because Logic.

I don't have any vehicle BPOs myself, but I feel this is a slippy slope, and how long until CCP comes for dropsuit modules? I purchased AUR for the ability to buy BPOs before they were gone from the market. Just like CCP told me too, and I thought about it for a few days and even researched how much they would benefit me in the future knowing that I would never need ISK to run a decent suit. I planned out my purchase and executed it based on the promise that BPOs would always be there to fall back on from CCPs dev blogs. Now here we are not even 2 months later and they are removing some of those "permanent" purchases with little thought on how the consumer feels and not even offering a suitable substitute. AUR is not suitable. I purchased a "permanent" item with my AUR, now there are none of those on the market. I don't want AUR in return. I want the cash back. Put it into my PS account. I am a PS+ member, I am sure I will find something to spend it on. Hell, if CCP offers something good in the future I might even reinvest it back to them. To push people to buy an item, and then remove it 2 months later though..... This is the sign of a disorganized and/or sheisty company. Or the fact that the playerbase is actually so low, that CCP is scared that once we as a community realize that we actually hold the power of future AUR purchases.... well. The first thing they want to do is get rid of our BPOs, because they do not want a satiated player base. They want us to buy more AUR, infact, they need it. BPOs, DO NOT, mess with the future ingame economy. They mess with CCPs bottomline. If you have the BPO, why buy the expendable new mod that CCP has on the market? This is what I am fighting against. This is the big picture that all you "BPOs are bad for the ingame economy" people never think of. I am an earthly being. I have lived through 34 years of being the villain and the hero. The only qualification you need for that is knowing when to use your middle finger. Well today I am using my middle finger, because I see what CCP is trying to fool everyone into. And I am against it.
for ease of referance.
well first off, the BPOs were never said to be permanant in terms of "guarenteed never to be removed from the game", if you read the EULA that people have begun quoting, CCP can change anything they feel like within the game for any reason or no reason whatsoever.
and you see that when you read that upon signing up and you determined you were ok with that.
upon purchasing aurum you noticed in the agreement that aurum is non- refundable, and im sure in all your careful reasearch on the subject you added this into concideration when you were determining weather or not you were guying to buy aurum for BPOs.
you bought aurum for BPOs knowing that aurum was non refundable, and that BPOs are not guarenteed to always be in the game, and can be removed at any point in time for no reason whatsoever.
and you decided you were ok with that.
you made an informed desision (or at least you said you did when you made it) and now you regret that desision. |

if you have some sort of real complaint i would like to hear it rather then endless dribble of the complains i am seeing, because so far all of these threads only surve to undermind that "real" complain rather then emphasise it.

You forgot one thing. The duress of said purchaser. It has been shown and held up in court that if a company urges a customer to buy, anything, and then changes any part of said agreement without the customers consent, it could cause duress upon the customer and they can then invoke their consumer rights.
I purchased AUR with the explicit intent to buy BPOs. Whether or not I used excess AUR to buy consumables or not is a nonfactor. I am sure that if a judge asks CCP to open the books for the time period after CCP Frame made his post about the removal of said BPOs from the market up until the time that said BPOs were removed from the market, I am sure you would see a spike in activity.
Now, I am under duress because I was lead to believe that BPOs were permanent, as stated in many articles, but now those purchases are being taken away without a suitable supplement. Breach of EULA and consumer rights. It is a tactic called "bait and switch". They have our money. They baited us with BPOs. Now they are switching them with AUR that only buys consumable items. Do you really want to argue me on this because I have been reading all kinds of **** since I first heard of the possibility that CCP wants to rid DUST of BPOs. I have made many posts on this subject alone. My best, CCP moderated to oblivion, because they don't want you to be mad at them. They just want you to buy more AURUM. I have them saved though for reference.
It is called sheisty. It is called underhanded. It is called many things, but the one that matters most is illegal. And I believe that that is the one that will get CCP if someone actually puts the money up to challenge them. I won't because I am busy and fuckitol for pocket change that I spent on this game. Kept me out of the casino for a week.

CCP diddnt change any part of an agreement
Rowdy Railgunner wrote: Now, I am under duress because I was lead to believe that BPOs were permanent, as stated in many articles,
permanant in the context of them not being consumed on use. the EULA wich you agreed that you not only read but fully understood states that anything may be changed in the game for no reason whatsoever.
CCP did a NOT lead you to believe they would never be removed from the game or changed, CCP lead you to believe they wouldnt be consumed as part of fittings [/quote]
Rowdy Railgunner wrote: but now those purchases are being taken away without a suitable supplement.
a refund of the currency used to purchased said item is and always has been concidered a suitable suppliment in court

all that research since they made those statements and yet YOU CHOSE to buy the bpos anyways even after the fact.
the worst part is that BPOs are still in the game, the ones that are gone... no longer have any in game function.
anyone that purchased them did so knowing full well this was a possability and made the informed desision to purchase them anyways.
willfully of their own accord.

Show me one person that is all for the removal BPOs by posting a link to this thread of them scrapping their BPOs. All of them. I challenge you. I will bet 50 million ISK that it will never happen.

and why are you devolving into a rant requesting that anyone who trys to have a rational counterpoint to your opinion must destroy their BPOs in order for you to take them seriously?
nobodys going to destroy all their BPOs because there isnt any guarentee that they will be removed, just like there isnt any guarentee that they wont be.

nowhere in any place in my argument did i state my opinions on BPOs, and so my opinion on BPOs has nothing to do with this particular thread, and will not be mentioned.
i suggest you counter the points presented rather then trying to sidetract and devolve the thread into an argument that amounts to screaming "if you have nothing to hide why wont you let me spy on you LOL" |

I guess they'd rather keep the BPOs of soon-to-be-nonexistant items that won't work in-game... Because Logic. It's not really that simple when the items being removed will be literally irreplaceable. thats kinda the point, they were removed from the game, generally you cant replace things removed from the game :P
Yes, you can. The reasonable thing would be to replace the BPOs with equivalents from the new content. I've used this analogy elsewhere; it's like being charged for entry to a theme park, only to find the park's main atraction out of commission. Would you not feel a little ripped off? Would it not be at least a little disingenuous of the theme park to not let you know before purchasing the ticket?
No.

except you CAN go to a theme park and find that the main attraction is closed.
they then refund you in the manner in wich you paid if your unhappy with that.
wich is exactly what happened here. main attraction closed... they gave you the AUR you paid for it with back.
not only that but... you got to ride teh attraction a while before it closed down, you just ignored the sign that said you may not be able to ride it forever.

for anyone curious, this is bait and switch.
as defined by both canada, and US ruling.
does not apply to this situation because
- no competitng item is being sold -sale was not used as a method of distributing alturnate competing products -original product was indeed available for sale -original terms of sale for said product were upheld |

Lets say CCP removes all BPOs in-game tomorrow... do you think the majority of people will ever spend another nickle on Dust?
Don't you think this action could have serious repercussions for CCP as a whole?
How many gaming sites would run this story? How far would the word of mouth travel?
Are you serious taking a corporations side over the consumer?
Lastly, do you want Dust 514 to fail? Removing all BPOs in-game is the surest way I can think of to make that happen.

well for starters they removed and item sold via psudo-currency, not real money
that psudocurrency was in turn purchased with a different psudocurrency, also not real money.
the original currency (PSN credit) was the only thing purchased for real money. |

If you had read any of my arguments before, you would know I do not have a problem with CCP refunding items purchased with aurum. This I see as fully at CCP discretion, as the person in question purchased in-game currency with their IRL cash, then purchased in-game items with that currency. A refund of in-game currency is fair IMHO.
I am referring to BPOs which were purchased directly for IRL cash. exampleexample and of course the Collectors edition
These items being removed would necessitate a real-life cash or PSN credit refund.

nope.

the customers were not then pressured to buy something else other then the advertised item.

This is NO different than the majority of players who were all for other changes and those people such as the Cal Logis were offered NO compensation for their time or effort when their suits were changed and had stuff removed. Where was your uproar then? No where because it didn't affect you.
Or as I posted before, it's like paying for a game, paying for monthly access, then months later the game goes F2P and you expect a return for your month's paid.
Nothing is being stolen here. BPO's cause an in game economy issue. It creates a P2W game which if that is what you want there are plenty out there already. Dust is trying to avoid the P2W model and actually provide some form of balance.

The Switch is done by you, you CHOOSE what to buy, not CCP.
Your failed understanding of the definition of bait and switch are askew. They invited you to buy AUR, which you did so willingly, knowing the terms of the EULA ( or in most cases, not bothering to read it ), and then buying in game whatever you desired with your AUR.
Now they are removing a FEW things and refunding those at an insane return on investment, thus giving you a profit of AUR ( for which you had bought originally and therefore is a FULL REFUND ) and you guys are still mad?

Can I just bloody well pat you on the back for being able to appreciate an argument. It's a rare trait in humanity, never mind on the internet.
I too am amused by those threatening legal action. The purchase of in-game currency is a well established legal immunity mechanic. I just object to the underhanded behaviour of CCP.

This isn't a nerf or rebalance. This is selling aurum packs, one of the appeals of which was BPOs, and then removing those BPOs and calling it even because the now less valuable aurum is being refunded at the same amount.
These changes don't affect me. I have roughly 24,000 sp in vehicles, and one BPO LAV. However, if CCP one day decided that skill boosters affected game balance, and removed them from our inventories, do you think there would be a significant issue? Would an aurum refund really satisfy people? Considering how many people bought aurum purely for said boosters?
No.

Check the facts please. BPOs are no longer available on the market. The ones we have now are literally irreplaceable. As such, they are worth far more than the original aurum used to purchase them. Neither are many people getting a profit on their investment. It has been a long time since these BPOs were less than 100aur, and the massive amount of aurum being raked in by some with this change is an issue in itself.
