With the current release of the PlayStation 4, I've been wondering when will CCP announce a next gen expansion. Because I know with better hardware this game can and will be so much better. Has anyone heard any rumors of Dust 514 next gen development ? I would like to know what are future plans for Dust 514 ? |

If you think it doesn't have a future why are you still here?
If I had to make a prediction I'd say 6 months to a year it will come on ps4, they have to make an entire new graphics package to come up with as well as add another system to the cross platform game and yeah they are way too focused on getting the game where they want it to be for ps3 to worry about moving it to another system.
Honestly though that's a hopeful prediction, they will probably wait until they have the game where they think it's advertisement worthy and we all know that right now the game isn't welcoming to new players and why would you get the word out for something that will make people frustrated? |

If CCP is content to just let the game go stagnant with a few thousand "dedicated Eve players" then they are as good as doomed. That which does not move forward dies. |

Not even GTA 5 want's to go to the ps4 yet...
There is no market there its tiny.... Sony has deliberately controlled the amount of PS4's even available to buy for this year... purely to SELL more PS3's.
Nothing made purely for the next gen console's will be even seeing the light of day for around a year.. other then Sony's in house project's.

It would be the same game, with no real improvements. This is due to CCP not alienating PS3 players, who are currently the dedicated fanbase, to start all over again. And CCP is not the only one. Other big developers are making next gen versions of games just as good as the current gen versions with only graphical improvements and maybe an increase to playercount. But I hear rumors that Dust 514 may be available through giachi (I probably buchered the name).

Oh god! that brings back the PS2 memories (or i think the PS2).
When everybody wanted a PS2 and Sony deliberatly sent them out in smll amounts. I remember hearing how gamestop had just got a new shipment of PS2s and than soldout in about half a day. Then I heard that Sony had a warhouse fun of millions of PS2s.

The PS4 will be one of the hottest items for Christmas this year....not quite a "Tickle Me Elmo" but gamer's will be feeling the jelly and stain of neglect by not having one world round. |

As stated by CCP they are focused on the 80 million PS3s in the world. Although it is fair to focus on that population, there are definitely not 80 million PS3 owners playing this game. Actually there are not even 1 million nor 500,000. There are less than 8000 players that play Dust maybe even less than 5000.
And here is an interesting note: the PS4 has sold 1 million in 24 hrs in just Two countries (USA and Canada) the PS4 could very well reach 5 million owners by March which is the projected number they are after. Point is the population of PS4 owners may very well triple 5 million PS4s by the end of 2014. That is about 15 million PS4 owners.
Sure its not 80 million but think about it. If you were developing a game such as DUST would you pass up the opportunity to relaunch a game on a console that will surely spread like wildfire in a few years? CCP is focused on roughly 8000 DUST players and dont want to leave them out in the dark. They fail to realize that they are ignoring a far larger population by only catering to this practically hand full of players. I would definitely sacrifice 8000 for the sake of sending this game into the hands of millions of more players.
So in short. CCP made the mstake of launching this game at the end of this current generation and will completrly miss the start of the next gen. They should have waited to launch this game on the PS4. Period. Not to mention I would more than garauntee that the 8000 or so players that play THIS game will definitely own a PS4 within the next year or two.

CCP is a company in the real world, and companies are not always giving away everything they are doing.
Sure they are focused on the PS3 right now, and will continue to say so until they reveal the PS4 update we will then learn they had been working on for a while.
Obviously the game is moving to PS4 eventually, but for now they are getting a whole lot of valuable data by having it on the PS3. |

Current focus is to get the game fun and no longer broken. After we get comfortable then, and then we can start asking about porting to other platforms.
I don't know about you...
but I would find Dust 514 embarrassing to have on the ps4 or pc or any other console in its current state.
There is quite a bit of development and balancing that can happen while the game is live so a shutdown is not as ideal either, this isn't as bad as the FFXI 1.0 bad that things have to be all redone from ground up. we have somewhat good foundation that can be repaired and leveled proper and being able to build off of it.

When they get DUSt to work fine, and have a sembelence of balance on PS3 with all basic content, then port.
Going to th big leagues while your still in training seems a bad idea.
Going to war with AAA games without filling in your amount of content.
