In the last 2 weeks the number of threads regarding BPOs, threatened legal actions against CCP (and speaking as a German national, europe does have some odd customer service laws, looking at you here Google )and Proto stomps went way up over in the General Discussion section.
I figured, wow, there is some heated discussion going on. Maybe check here and see how the CPM weighs in on these issues? You know, the forum and folks for talking between CCP and players....
Just, there is ... nothing Not even a quicky like GÇPWe are aware of the player concerns, communicated them to CCP, but can't share anything yet."
Just nothing. What's going on? Like to think I pay attention to the forums, but other than 1 comment regarding the 93-0 Black Eagle ... "exploit"?? I haven't seen or heard anything from you guys. You still around?

Sigh...
Most of us are not lawyers who are better suited to answering the whole debacle. The most controversial topics the CPM generally stays out of but most often are made aware by the players (thank you all).
The reason why we try to stay out of of them is for the simple fact that a bad statement can throw that person under the bus so to say. For example Jenza was seen 'applauding' the action as being creative and finding out how to work with it. The things in WTF found out about this exploit well before this academy did and already reported it to CCP. Which wound nearly render any CPM comment as not needed. When it comes to exploits its best to let CCP handel statements regarding it and any fixes for exploits are considered under NDA protection if they're being developed or considered and it be awful to give cheaters a heads up.
As for the Legal issues are one of those things CCP and just about every other company in the world won't share.
I mean look at microsoft or apple? how many lawsuits they go through a year? Quite a few. People claiming to have ideas stolen, unfair, and all sorts of stupid reasons on both good and bad grounds.
The most public of statement you're going to get is a reversal on decision, for example CCP says: 'okay we're not removing BPOs, instead we're 999ing their fitting stats. Should it come to that instead.'
Or something to a similar announcement crafted by the community team.
We're reading forums for sure and being made aware of things, you can poke us individually if you can be trusted with the statements about what we think about subjects but people in the past have proven untrust worthy of even a snide sarcastic comments.

Like IWS said (Even though I wish he hadn't, because he sucks at general diplomacy)
Generally, it's rare we take a unified stance on anything enough to make a public statement from the whole group.
At most you're going to see us post our personal thoughts, but due to our precarious position of being seen as having 'insider knowledge' and in some cases some might think we are relaying messages from CCP, such statements of personal thoughts can be dangerous and cause all kinds of trouble unless worded /very/ carefully.
For my personal thoughts on the BPO 'issue' (I don't approve of how it was handled but I don't believe it is the wrong move)
See my two posts linked here and here.
As far as "proto-stomps" they mostly come as a result from bad game balance and poor matchmaking, rolled into one nice little cozy package. Both need to be addressed, but personally I'm at the point where I've seen enough fettered and half-hearted attempts to "Fix the gameplay" that what we really need now is more actual content (IE: More things to actually do, like PVE. New maps and suits can barely be considered content, and grow old much quicker than they can developed.) |

Thank you both for replying, it's greatly appreciated.
Personally I see the CPM as go-between the Dust player base and CCP, as champion of our concerns so to speak. My post was meant to support and strengthen that position.
Thanks again.

Totally agree with you. I keep mentioning it in other threads - PvE is one of the only ways to build a better new player experience and give some longevity to players who are burnt out from running the same game modes and suits all the time. |
