This has got to be one of the most disappointing Dust 514 moments for me. For some reason, I never seem to notice the "ORBITAL AVAILABLE" message when I get one as squad leader. Sometimes it just completely flies my mind that they exist. Once, I forgot to use 2 and it was not pretty.
Other times I'll forget I have it until the end of the match because I'm focusing on fighting, by which time there's no where left to drop it with a large amount of enemies. At that point, it's either wait even longer, or drop it on one or two random guys. Either way, no one is happy. Responses range from no one saying anything to being reminded to being berated. I don't think I'll ever remember 100% of the time to launch Orbitals without some big, red, pulsating symbol in the corner driving me mad.
Anyone else forget? Am I alone in my plight of being Commander McForgetful?

Back during the FW event a few months ago, I was running with a bunch of people from the PIE channel (might have even been with mortedemeanor, not sure) and had had maybe just a little too much whiskey. Totally forgot about the orbital until near the end when I realized it. "Sh!t, I have an orbital!" Stop to bring it in... oops, I'm not in cover.
Sniped. @&$%#!!
Spawn in, ok, let's do this. True calls out objective Charlie. Drop it.
Stupid double vision, should have aimed for the middle one...
Only get 1 kill. The other 4 reds continue hacking the objective.
For some reason I don't do squad lead much any more. Weird.

I used to forget them all the time, but lately idk I have a sixth sense of when I have an OB, and have been getting some insane OB kill feeds several games in a row. I think what helps is looking at a blob of reds and thinking "man we really need to get an OB quick".
The anticipation is what fixes it for me.

There should be a persistent notification built into the UI when orbitals are available. Its all to easy to miss that notification we get now.

I used to forget all the time but I've made a habit of checking the kill feed periodically and when I die I do a rough sum of all the squads WP so I know when to keep an eye out for the OB

Well we do that as well but often we dont use them right away and eventually forget we got them in the first place.

Actually, I usually do check our scores when I die. Most of the time when I forget, it's because I've only died once or twice, usually before I've gotten an Orbital and at the end of the match when I do something stupid.

On the rare occasion I'm placing the defend donuts the notification is always missed. Yet as a squad member I'm always calling it out.

Well, there's nothing like having the guy with the Defend order on him die. Then, you duck between a crate to set another one up and end up tagging a random blueberry near a greenberry and end up having to leave it like that to defend yourself.
