SOMETHING happened in 1.5 that took blasters from being decent weapons (But with way high PG req and situational uses) to completely broken for killing anything.
I'm not positive if it was a hit detection change, or removal of some secret splash damage that was compensating for latency and bad hit detection on the small-blasters keeping them viable.
But when 1.7 rolls out and CCP is trying to see how the feel of vehicle / AV / new small turret chances are playing out
Blasters are set to be in the same position that small rails have been for the last 2 years. Never used and totally broken.
Question 1: Is CCP aware of what changes they made in 1.5 that broke small blasters Question 2: Does CCP intend to redesign or fix their firing in 1.7 Question 3: If not, why is this not considered an issue of Utmost importance in what is proposed to be the biggest, vehicle/turret overall in Dust. Focus on small turrets should be greater than to allow for another Small Rail situation of Yor.

Has any CCP DEV commented on what changes were made to small blasters in 1.5 And or why they were made and what they were supposed to do? |

I've used Blasters on my Somas for a while now. I recently upgraded to the Stabilized variant for the range (the PG cost is so high!) and I miss a lot. It can take me several seconds to take out enemies, with my reticule on them 75% of the time. Often I'll see 2 bullets hit when 6 have been fired.
Many suits I've worn, many burdens I've borne, for the oaths I've sworn.

This change might have been more profound on dropships. I have not gunned from a LAV or Tank recently.
But in my experience the DS blaster turrets (in isolation, ignore fitting viability and hover-gunning) went from fairly capable guns to you cannot even kill a target that you're aiming at perfectly. You need to be perfectly still, they need to be perfectly still, and at that you need to maintain fire On them for 5x longer than before.
This is totally un-useable from a DS POV |

Yeah, who's going to spec that much SP into a broken turret, when CCP's history with broken turrets (see small rail) is to ignore it for 2 years and not say a single word on the subject
Thus nobody will even test the (broken) turrets at higher than militia levels. And so all changes to 1/3rd of small turrets become a waste time. Smoke and mirror options for noobs to accidentally waste SP in and quit Dust for how useless they are. |

I've found the same thing with the small blasters on my HAV, so I mostly use cycled missiles now.

That's pretty bad.. If cycled missiles are easier to aim and hit targets with than a blaster. . . |
