The Magsec SMG

Shouldn't it be like a carbine or something?
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

Bingo. Sounds more like a light weapon than a sidearm, but is love to have a long distance sidearm. So if it lives up I might have to look into it. |

It will have it's own skill just like the rail rifle has a separate skill from the assault rifle. You only get one weapon type per weapon skill.

As for the actual weapon itself, it will likely be similar to the breach SMG, so high damage, low ROF but with greater effect against shields and longer range than the regular SMG. However, I can't imagine a hugely great range on it beyond the regular SMG because it would be encroaching on light weapons like the rifles; maybe an effective range of 40m?

No troll from him. A simple search would have soon you the truth that the magsec has been a confirmed weapon for a while, just no ETA on it. It's a burst SMG. For those who played Mass Effect I'm going to venture it'll be very similar to the burst SMG in that. |

Burst is minmatar design, hence why there is no burst SMG.

Yeh, I can't find the post where the burst side was talked about. To be described as a semi-auto long range SMG doesn't fully make sense unless the semi-auto refers to burst fire. We're just going to have to wait and see

Yeah, that description is odd - how can a "sub-machine gun" of any form be semi-auto? The regular SMG fires something like 16 rounds per second; even the breach is around 9 rounds per second. That's a lot of clicking to kill someone!

I hate that CCP keeps describing full auto weapons as "semi-auto". I am pretty sure the Minmatar SMG is labeled as "semi-auto" too... -_-)

SMGs can be semi automatic you know. Also its just longer range. Probably no farther then an AR shoots (Probably shorter still) |
