Vehicles in 1.7 are getting and entirely different skill tree. What I want to know is weather or not we will be refunded the skill points we put into the current skill tree when 1.7 is released
or if CCP is going to do what they did with in EVE when they introduced racial variations so we can still use the weapons and modules we already have the skill points to use.
Example: in eve before introducing racial battle cruiser skills we simply had a generic BC skill. When the racial skills were introduced if you had BC at lets say LVL5 and all racial cruiser skills at LVL 3 then you gained all Racial BC skills at level 5 as well buffing your total SP by another 5mill or so.
This allowed you to fly any BC you already could before the skill change, but simple gave you extra SP in order to do so.
Example: I have large hybrid turrets at LVL 4 with the change am I going to be refunded the sp in this skill or will I be given the same level skill in the new skill tree plus the SP for the new prerequisite skills needed to us large hybrid turrets?
I'm leaning towards simply getting refunded the current vehicle skill try sp but would like some clarification on this |

1. They haven't elaborated on how this is going to work yet, we can only speculate.
2. I would assume that a refund for all vehicle related skills will probably be what's in order, as you said the entire skill tree is being overhauled here.

well they released the new skill tree, wich removed every current vehicle skill from the game.
you cant have spent SP in skills that dont exsist, so those get put back into your unallocated pool.
logic, its like ******* magic or something. |

They won't refund just specific skill trees because then a GM would not only have to sort through each flagged account, they would actually have to go in by hand for every account and remove specific skills.
CCP will release all racial dropsuits at the same time, and offer a respec. Or, they will add in racial vehicles as well, and do it then.
Respec is soon, watch for it.

I don't understand why you're assuming that they'd have to manually reset each persons skills by hand in order to do this. It's not out of the question I think to assume that they have a system in place that could handle the transition for them.

It's not out of the question I think to assume that they have a system in place that could handle the transition for them. Because I was here for the last many respecs, and each time, unless it was an entire reset, devs had to go in by hand. You submitted a ticket, and waited between a week to a month and a half as CCP went through each account and issued the respec. When the ISK debacle happened, CCP had to go into every persons account by hand and fix the issues that way. This would happen if specific skill trees were reset, since they couldn't just respec the entire character.
Way too much time for that, when most players know respecs are entirely valid until all core assets and skills are in game. Respecs are something CCP has expressed great interest in via paid skillback boosters, so to think a respec is out of the question is naive, I'm just trying to use past experience to shed some light on potential future decisions.

See, in EVE, flying ships is what you do. On the ground, in Dust, you could use vehicles or be infantry. We have the choice between the two. In EVE, you do one thing.
There's going to be people that want to completely skill out of vehicles for whatever reason. Their capabilities are being nerfed pretty hard, and AV is being nerfed only commensurate with how much vehicles are being nerfed. So I feel rightly that they should be able to reclaim the SP they put into vehicles. I know I'm going to need all my SP back to skill up all the turrets, and both hulls. I'll have some left over for whenever they announce the pilot suits.
Teamwork for thee, but no teamwork for me, such is the motto of the anti vehicle infantry.

People that want and I feel are the problems. We aren't looking at is best for the game we are trying for things that make us feel better.
In EVE like in DUST we are a person and much like in DUST the job we do defines what ship we are flying. In DUST you start in a merc quarters and EVE you are in the captain"s quarters or hanger. Those are very similar. In DUST you put on your suit or sit in vehicle to do your job. Similar. Your job is fighting and you do that wearing a suit or in a vehicle. Hits both. In EVE you train a skill to fly a ship and in DUST you train a skill to wear a suit or be a pilot for a ship. Pretty much the same. In EVE pilots move from frigate to destroyer to cruiser to battlecruiser to battleship and to Capitals, while in DUST we move from light to medium to heavy to LAV to HAV and then on to Dropships. That was a very similar progression. I can do more if you like.

Wait
Did you seriously just compare going from frigate to capitals as going from light to dropships.....

Some just don't want a vehicle with only 3 HP tank slots, and prefer 5, so maybe they'd want to get out of tanking.
Like I said, in EVE, you're in a ship. That cannot be changed. In Dust, you can be infantry or a vehicle pilot. You could skill into both and use both. Some want to use only one. I see no reason we shouldn't get a respec so those that want to get out of vehicles can do so.

I am comparing the differences between the classes of hulls on DUST and EVE not comparing their way of being played. Saying you do one thing is like saying DUST is just shooting a gun. I am not making any other comparisons and any other aspect. The games have a similar progressions system - in size - that is skill based.

It is no different than skilling into a frigate or a destroyer, the concept is the same. I fly Gal ships and have good drone skills but the destroyers didn't have Gal drone boat. I skipped it and went to cruisers. They released the Gal drone destroyer after I had trained my cruiser to 5. I spent all that time passively skilling into a ship I didn't want only to have, the one I wanted was released afterward. You can say they aren't the same game but they are and they do different things differently. CCP changes things and sometimes you have to stick with choices made.
