as it stands now most guns have little to no recoil which increases accuracy and reduces TTK drastically. my suggestion is to add or increase recoil to most of the guns.
this will cause guns such as the AR, and the SMG to be burst fired more often than full auto. full auto should still be an option but for close quarters only. likewise the HMG should still have the laser like precision but with much higher recoil and drift which would mimic bullet dispersion via the gun shaking so D*** much.
so in terms of recoil amount from most to least

Recoil should be based upon alpha damage. Higher alpha damage weapons should have higher recoil due to the caliber of round they are firing. This would actually add balance to higher tier weapons as well since yes they do more damage but this would come at the price of increased recoil.
The exception to this should be laser based weapons which should have 0 recoil since light cannot cause your weapon to buck up on you.
The list for recoil should look like this (from least recoil per round fired to most recoil per round fired): 1) Laser Rifle/scrabler rifle/scrambler pistol (recoil = 0)
2) HMG (it has tiny per shot damage so it should have the lowest recoil per round. This will be balanced by its ROF causing it to have significant recoil when fired in long bursts).
3) SMG
4) AR
5) Battle Rifle (coming soon)
6) Rail Rifle (coming soon)
7) Shotgun
8) Sniper Rifle
9) Flaylock
10) Mass Driver
11) Swarm Launcher
12) Plasma Launcher
13) Forge Gun
This should be combined with increasing amounts of barrel sway at lower levels of stamina. The less stamina you have the less able you are to keep your weapon aimed where you want it.

That would make game play quite interesting... I like it. |

sounds pretty good, my list was only about the total recoil caused by full auto. |

myofibril stimulants should also reduce recoil because you're more muscley.

I think you don't know what you are talking about.
HMGs and FG both have significant recoil and many weapons have Skills to overcome basic recoil by limiting dispersion. CCP/Shanghai has a reasonable balance for recoil in my opinion. Have a tanker friend of your fire the largest rail gun turret they can mount. First have them fire it straight ahead and then at 90 degrees to the tank.
That my fellow Merc is Recoil.
I personally believe that this is yet another post that wants to remove the Win button from someone else. Or the perceived button that they believe exists, normally because of a recent loss or series of losses.

i dont know where you come in with the Tank turret. so far the suggestions were for increasing recoil on handheld weapons. you can do full auto on an AR with minimal accuracy loss at the longer ranges for the weapon. and the HMG is actually far to accurate and acts more like a laser
ever play a good fps game with assault rifles or LMG's? you know like ARMA or Battlefield? the weapons that can fire full auto tend to be very inaccurate while firing in full auto, which makes firing in short bursts better for mid-long range combat.

Machine guns dont have any recoil, just saying. Thats only in the movies, but then again this game isnt very realistic nor it intend to be i guess.

well thats due to it being mounted, and honestly the mounted weapons shouldn't have recoil or nowhere near as much as the hand held weapons. |

Welcome to DUST. This is actually a discussion to stop stuff like this from happening.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

No weapon can violate the Third Law of Motion. Machine guns mounted on vehicles have no perceived recoil on the user, but only because the vehicle itself is taking the recoil. |
