judging on the fact they have not even commented on this bug for the 6 months it's been in effect they either don't know, or don't care.
This bug will be here till Dust dies. Which incidentally, may be right after 1.7! |

You're really persistent about this one.
In any case, you really should be worrying less about the Turret bug and more about how Large Rails in 1.7 do more damage than their compressed variants, have standard variation heat gain, 600m Effective Range, and are now backed with damage mods that increase damage by 30%.
Turrets don't mean anything if you can't even get in position to use them in the first place.

CCP is completely out of touch with vehicles. There have been hundreds of posts and bug reports and nothing was addressed. Now we're blessed with a complete overhaul to "make things fun again" - Want to make things fun? Fix existing problems. I've been playing this game a long time and invisible swarms have always been a thing. Being unable to address a core gameplay issue with vehicles (invisiswarms) for that long shows that CCP is either incapable of fixing issues or unwilling to address them. To be honest, it's probably a combination of both. Devs know best! Derping your way to the unemployment line!
I can't wait for things to be "fun" again...
Maybe it's time for a PS4. |

Yeah that'll be fun. Guess who will never be flying that BS game mode with ~**** poor isk payout ~bad SP per time ~random missiles flying through air at 40,000 damage a pop and ~red-line rail tanks who are immune to damage by virtue of a mechanic CCP isn't smart enough to re-work.
Honestly 1.7 IS the make or break. If by then they have not demonstrated some competency about vehicle/av balance and a propensity to clean out huge bugs faster than half a year then this game can enjoy the deep grave it's dug itself |

If I want to pass the time on games I've got Magicka: Wizard wars - now with responsive and awesome devs! or Dark Souls II. Which even though its out in March will still be done before a single bug is fixed in this game.
Hear that? They are making an entire, full game from start to bloody FINISH, before CCP can fix a simple bug. Dark Souls II won't release as a pre-alpha with half the weapons and spells in game either. Its an actual, full game. Novel concept!

It's a shame with Rails being where they're at that Dropship pilots will more than likely be stuck in the mode that rewards Dropship transportation the least. I've enjoyed the few instances where I can get a Dropship squad together to transport them around a Skirmish. You think you'll be okay with having to land and recall in order to get ammo for your turrets again assuming all you run is Ambush?
Regarding balance though I really wouldn't expect them to get it perfect right out of the gate, right now I think the biggest problem that no one is talking about is the Large Rail buff combined with an overall nerf to the base HP of Dropships. They're going to get tagged in 2 shots assuming they don't preemptively have their hardeners up and even if they do one redline rail is going to cut off a huge portion of the map regardless. Something needs to be done to address either their Rate of Fire (2 seconds a shot) or their damage.
