So, for the second time today, I experienced, my PS3 shutting off randomly, and the red lights blinking 2-3 times. On both occassions, I was playing DUST.
Now, I know this is the sign of the YLOD (Well, at least thats what I've read)
Now I'm afraid to touch this game, in fear of losing my PS3 before the Dark Souls 2 release. ()
So, has anyone else experienced this, and when it happened, were you playing DUST?

My sys was running hot. You can run a ps3 defrag. I found that info here but i dont know the link. Id reccomend it, mine runs way better but still abit hot, so i stand it vertical. Also remove disks. Keep ventilated.
I have it vertical, and ran a defrag a few days ago, last time I cleaned the air vents was about 3 weeks ago, and they still aren't too dusty.
Its not covered by anything, and everything is a decent distance away from it
It first happened about 3 weeks ago.
Maybe I should open it up, and clean it internally?

The build up of dust inside the system can be horrendous (especially if you smoke whilst playing). Try removing the outer cover and cleaning it thoroughly. you need a torque screw bit (star) to remove the top cover, i think it's a size 10. The screw is under the security sticker on the left hand side of the playstation. once this is removed slide the cover to the left. underneath this you wil find phillips head screws (6 i think, can't remember exactly) After removing these there is a square hole with a clip in it, push the clip in and remove the top cover. then you can clean the system thoroughly and it should solve the problem something else while your in there make sure you REPASTE YOUR CPU ...use higher quality paste than what was originally used and you can drop your op temp by 6-8 c it only costs 10 bucks...and if its a phat and has never been repasted and is over 3 years old ..then it needs it sonies paste hada 3- 5 year op lifetime ..when it goes bad ur op temp goes up that thermal paste it what allows you heat sink on your cpu to transfer the heat...without it..the whole thing gets hot enough to melt the terribad solder sony used on the cpu which leads to ylod overheating is caused by more than dust..you should def re paste it...plenty of videos on youtube I wouldn't bother doing this until you get YLOD. It's a lot harder to do on the PS4 than it is on the kidbox
Yeah, I was going to wait until I actually got the YLOD.
Unless waiting causes more damage than acting on it now?
