Matchmaking needs to split squads between teams. I've said it before and I'm going to keep saying it until CCP acknowledges that current matchmaking is worthless. This is a simple, simple fix. Instead of filling teams one by one, fill a battle with 32 players, then split those players into relatively even teams, first by squad, then randoms by SP order. If there's an odd number of squads, and the extra one goes to team 1, then team 2 should get the first X highest SP randoms, where X is the size of the squad. Bump if you agree. |

Care to back that up with anything other than a blind assertion? Even if we get the same set of 32 players in a match, there are better ways to split that 32 into teams than the current matchmaker's method. |

But as I pointed out here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1495725#post1495725Even that system can be broken by intelligent players looking to own zone pugs. No matchmaking system has an algorithm that can't be defeated by a thinking player.
True, but it could be better than it is now. Plus, if matches were more balanced to begin with, single players wouldn't leave matches so often. If I see 6 Nyain San members vs my team of randoms, I'll leave, but if there's also 6 members of 0uter.Heaven of my team, I'll stay because it will probably be an excellent match. |

More people with different skill levels means that it is easier for the game to match you up with people of similar skill levels. While when you have a smaller playerbase there is less diversity in skill levels which makes it harder for the game to match you up with similarly skilled players since there isn't as many people with a skill level that is similar to yours.
I'm not talking about something so nebulous as skill level. I'm not asking for perfectly balanced teams every time- someone has to win, after all. I'm just done having the matchup be 16 randoms vs two full squads w/ 4 randoms. Regardless of gear or SP or personal player skill levels, that's simply going to be a stomp. Teamwork is the most powerful weapon in this game, as it should be, and the matchmaker needs to acknowledge that when creating teams. |
