I threw most my SP in to heavy, not knowing how poorly balanced it is. I upgraded to lvl 5 MG because I assumed it would be a badass killing machine, considering how slow the guy runs and the fact that he can't even jump on 2ft platforms, forcing me to take even longer routes at a turtles pace. So I finally start digging in to enemies (with damage boosters) I was pretty pissed to see how slow their health dropped. Meanwhile, I'm getting killed in 2-3 seconds by AR's and OP laser guns. On top of that, it deals like a BB gun at long range. Tried the 4k RPM, which is also useless except for attempting to steal kills.
Considering all this, the heavy should really have more base shield and damage, and light weapons shouldn't be so damn powerful. I'm not saying he should get a speed boost or anything, leave him as he is, and keep the short distance fire, but Heavy should definitely have more base shield and damage if he's going to be a good objective defender, which is really all he should be good for. |

I don't play heavy, but I can say I'm much more afraid of a heavy with an AR or ScR than I am of a heavy with a HMG |

Look I understand your point. The heavy is a joke at the moment and it mainly lies in the fact the HMG is a worthless heavy weapon at the moment. You are never going to get sympathy from anyone except other heavies, why because we understand. I have been a heavy since Beta, I do not use it as much as I once did. I currently run an assault with an AR and on the occasion I do miss the heavy as it was in Beta. So for the moment skill into another role or run a BPO

Glad to see someone gets it. If not a better MG then at least much higher base sheild, a heavy class that can hold out 2-3 enemies (hold out, not kill) would make thing more interesting, instead of him just being like every other class, only slower. |

My only use for my proto sentinel is forge gunning. Best weapon for counter sniping because it OHKs any suit. Last match I played I popped two tanks and killed half a dozen snipers.

Forge guns are great, I agree on that, you can also take out tanks in 3 shots. |

Then use a Duvolle or a GEK with a heavy. Helps to have a logi.
My guy has 649 shield, going to get advanced soon so that should be over 700 shield with one more shield upgrade to go
and 809 armour with 1 more armour upgrade to go.

Btw I didn't say it was inaccurate, I said it DEALS like a BB gun, as in damage, and yes I hit at long range easily with it. |

Yes, that's the AR I'm talking about. Over 70 damage is ridiculous for an AR, even with 10 round clip that's infinitely more devastating than my puny 19dmg @ 2k, it'll drop me like a fly, while HMG's just nibble away people. |

The HMG is only good currently in skilled players hands. Its harder to use effectively then almost any weapon in the game.
CCP will take a few months before addressing any change to this spread problem (lack of). So be a bigger man and not try EZ mode AR 514 if your up for a challenge.
That being said, there is a lot more satisfaction shitting on all these OP duvolle and scrambler bastards with the HMG.
So heavies, less QQ more pew pew. |

Try a Duvolle on a Heavy.
I have ~1500 HP, the best rifle in the game at Proficiency 5 with 2 Complex Damage mods.
Or, ~1200 HP and can outrun a stock Assault. Put an AHMG on that...
It all works.
You just have to adjust how you think it should work.

I played from the Beta as a heavy, he was much more useful back then. I had no idea they would nerf the HMG that much. As for having to be a "good" player to use him (responding to the other guy), that seems unrealistic. He's slower and the HMG is weaker than many guns, and going up against "good" players with those advantages leaves basically no room to use anything to your advantage. |

The spread at full dispersion means it can't hit anything. The spread at minimum dispersion is too accurate, and therefore easily strafed.
The spread in the middle is nearly impossible to maintain, and if you try to do so with bursts you end up losing too much DPS to compete with any other weapon.
So, it is basically useless. There is no situation where it will excel. I'm playing Amarr assault right now, and it's actually viable. Not unbeatable, but deadly as hell and viable. I'm experiencing an emotion close to fun when I do it. I go to my heavy, and I do not have fun. It's not a desire to be unbeatable, it's a desire to be viable. |
