To clarify first this is only regarding the use of Aurum for boosters. If you use your AUR for anything else so be it.
So here's my issue. The Elite pack provided a very cost effective means of maintaining boosters at a constant rate. depending on play-styles, you had a range of effective cost. Those players who would reach their SP Cap in a day would need to spend less where as casual players who spend all week "capping" would spend slightly more. The Elite pack came with 200,000 AUR and 4 boosters (2x 30-Day Active and 2x 30-Day Passive). blueprints and items aside, this is what the elite pack offered for boosters. 200,000 AUR could get you 4 sets of boosters for a casual player (4 sets of 30-day boosters) or 5 sets of boosters for a 1-day-capper (1x 30-day passive and 4 1-day active).
30-day bundle = 46,600 AUR 30-day passive booster = 28,000 AUR cost to maintain 1-day-cap for a month = 36,000 AUR/mo 1-day active booster = 2,000 AUR
Assuming you only used your AUR for boosters and also factoring in the rollover AUR from purchases prior, here is the cost to buy constant boosters for a year using the Elite pack.
Casual: $16.66 average monthly cost (2 packs per year)
Hardcore: $13.33 average monthly cost (2 packs per year with booster coverage equal to 15 months)
Since the removal of the Elite Pack. the only cost effective option for boosters is to pay the same $99.99 for the 200,000 +25,000 AUR Pack. You gain a marginal increase in AUR and lose the 2 months of boosters included in the Elite Pack. so what does it cost to maintain boosters with this pack?
Casual: $21 average monthly cost (3 packs per year with booster coverage equal to 14 months)
Hardcore: $16 average monthly cost (2 packs per year)
So what's the point?
Dust514, like many other MMORPG games, has an XP system. in Dust it is the SP system. Your efforts reward you based on your contribution and as such those rewards are used to improve your character. If you seek to play with the big boys, you must constantly grow. This requires you to, at a minimum, reach your bonus SP cap every week. your boosters help in assisting that growth. Dust514 is also free to play. However, like any other free to play game, those who pay benefit from their contributions. Good FTP games make their purchasable items available in-game through achievable means but offer the paid items for the lazy. Dust514 does this fairly well. Whether or not you use boosters you will eventually accrue the SP necessary to train your skill levels.
The cost to achieve these boosters does not accurately reflect the reward gained. at 50% bonus the cost should reflect that of any other MMO subscription. in general, (EVE included) subscriptions cost $10 monthly if buying a year all at once and $15 monthly if buying month by month. Dust514 should reflect these values.
So i was always taught don't complain about something unless you have a solution so here is 3.
1. change the prices of AUR to reflect the relative cost for boosters or 2. Offer an PSN package which includes a year's worth of boosters at the industry standard of $120 or 3. Offer a Dust514 Subscription, independent of AUR, which provides the account with +50% SP gain while subscribed (lore point: paying to study at the academy or something)
TL;DR the cost to maintain boosters is more than MMORPG subscriptions and needs to change. solutions in previous paragraph.

I hate to sound like I'm being dismissive here, but if you don't see them as value for money, don't buy them. The prices are going to change.
No.

price change is bound to occur, i agree. For something that is directly related to how often you play and on a limiting system. it needs to reflect the cost for the time. |

SP boosters are nice and all if you gotta get to the top fast, but there's not much need to do so. Once you get to around 15m SP as an assault or 20m as a logi, boosters don't matter a whole lot. I've played newer characters in this wave of protostomping and it's fine so long as you aren't running solo. This game isn't solo friendly regardless of SP level anyways so no shocker there.
There's also going to be sales and events to draw in purchases every now and then. I would be surprised if we don't see a holiday event of some variety that involves cheaper aurum or aurum items. |

So take this into account for the player trying to reach their 15m or 20m SP mark. with boosters, a player earns 450,000 SP per week. to reach 15m a player needs to cap out every week with boosters for 34 weeks. that's 8.5 months. the 20m SP mark is 45 weeks or 11.25 months.
without boosters a player earns 300,000 SP per week. at 15m SP mark that's 50 weeks, just under a year. and at 20m SP it's 67 weeks or 16.25 months. that is a long time to farm up to your SP mark without boosters.
