So, i'm pretty bored and hungry right now. I also have a packet of Chicken flavored Ramen staring at me in the face right now screaming, "EAT ME!". I usually make it one of three ways.
(1) Standard by the book add seasoning packet after boiling noodles - pretty boring. Sometimes add frozen veggies.
(2) Same as number 1 except then add a layer of thinly sliced onion and thinly sliced fresh tomato. Finally, crack an egg on top and close the lid and cook until egg is soft boiled (usually two or three minutes)
(3) Cut open corner of bag and remove spice packed. Smash the noodles and add spice packet. Shake liberally and then eat "raw" like a crunchy oriental style snack.
So, how do you cook your Ramen? |

I usually open a can of great value chicken (may seem wrong, but it works) and add it when I add the noodles. You can also boil chicken and add that to.
Who says you can't kill in style?

I stopped being able to actually taste the spice packets a few years ago due to overuse so I've had to get creative with it.
Sometimes I go loads of spices, liberal amounts of sriracha, and a bit of cottage cheese. An old roommate of mine turned me onto it and it's actually much better than it sounds. It gives the ramen a nice creamy flavor and you get a bit of protein in something that would otherwise just be salt and carbs.
Dropping an egg into the ramen is also a decent addition to ramen. a cheap way to make it more of a meal.
aside from that, I often just use the noodles themselves in stir frys or any other dish that takes noodle as they're cheap and cook up faster than most other noodles out there.
They are also great for adding a bit of crunch to a coleslaw. My recipe for slaw calls for apple cider vinegar (instead of white), carrots and cheese grated up and onions turned into a fine paste by using a grater as well. crush up the ramen and mix everything together. |

Step 1: Buy a good brand of ramen/ramyun like Nongshim.
Step 2: Discard the seasoning packets. Too much sodium and MSG.
Step 3: Make your own broth with chicken stock or miso.
Step 4: Prepare noodles in boiling water. When cooked to your preference (I prefer mine al dente), remove immediately from water and run cold water over the noodles in a colander. Put aside.
Step 5: Prepare toppings. Green onions, thinly sliced white onion, corn, tea boiled egg, minced garlic, nori (sheets of dried seaweed), bean sprouts, and slices of chicken or pork shoulder.
Step 6: Assemble.
Step 7: Om nom nom. |

That sounds like the way ramen is actually supposed to be prepared, as far as I know, anyway.

That actually sounds good. I been thinking about using some Better Than Bullion I bought at the store the other day vs. the seasoning packets. Mainly because MSG, but the Sodium level in those things are a heart attack waiting to happen. |

Stir fry some eggs and sausage with green and red peppers, add some onions and garlic, feel free to add a little salt.
Then get some tomatoes and boil them, blend it, add cilantro. Pour it in a large pan. Add said noodles. Boom, ghetto Pasta.
You know have Mexican eggs and a side of Pasta.
Madness is the emergency exit. You can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened.
