Snipers should be much more vulnerable at close then at range, it balances things otherwise we'll have tactical Kali shotgunners which sadly is already viable (The target info will tell you if you'll actually hit the target even when not scoping...). Now rendering at range, that I'd love. ok, let's nerf AR's till the only useful AR is the balac's gar....we'll maintain balac's damage and fire rate...but decrease all other ar's damage and range by 60% as a balac's gar lover, I believe my gun should be the only useful one in the tree.
This. I'm a dozen deaths away from not being able to snipe in PC matches. A the highest end, the Thales is the only viable weapon for a sniper. Having a whole play style predicated on access to an officer weapon doesn't make much sense. Getting OHKd by a Thales really doesn't happen very much in pub matches, it just happens to be one of those kinds of deaths that irks people. This is how we arrive at the somewhat pardoxical situation where the masses claim that red line sniping is a huge issue and that red line snipers are worthless. Someone with a proto sniper rifle, 5 prof and 3-4 damage mods should be at least a ltitle dangerous to someone in a tanked out proto suit and right now this is simply not the case. The difficulty in ameliorating this situation is that using the set up above, you can absolutely muder anyone in MLT and STD gear.

Change that and you reward the marksmen that take up key positions to cover infantry and punish the red-liner hiders. I am stunned that CCP still has several weapons in the game that still have the functionality.
I'd be on board with this. I like to play in the 100-250m range with a tac sniper rifle and SMG with quick access to cover in order to avoid having to fight in the AR/SCR wheelhouse. It combines marksmanship and CQC skills in a way that I find enjoyable. However, it's not terribly viable against high end gear. I can tag a forge sniper 3 times in the head and then get blasted. I can do a bit better against assault/logi suits, but the I still need to get at least one head shot to reliably kill with a single clip.
