Think it's going to happen?
Should it happen? I don't like forcing people to use a particular weapon just because they picked a particular suit. It's at least befitting of the dogmatic Amarr that they'd want to be racial purists, but it undermines much of the appeal of this game in the first place.
Not forcing them to use anything, only giving perks to those whom do. Perks and bonuses should come with the suit and levels in the skill should modify the bonus. It is the best method for allowing expanding roles and suit types within a size.
Dr. Gonzo: I hate to say this, but this place is getting to me. I think I'm getting the Fear.

It's at least befitting of the dogmatic Amarr that they'd want to be racial purists, but it undermines much of the appeal of this game in the first place. I don't see it as forcing someone, the weapons would still work regardless, just a reward to those that use the weapons whit their suits, like the scrambler rifle we have today you don't HAVE to use an Amarr suit but it gives you bonuses if you do. Why reward us for being generic footsoldiers? How about suit bonuses that benefit suits? Why should people lose out on a bonus just because they didn't want to put a long-range rifle on a suit that works best at close range? Right now the Amarr Assault bonus works because it is unique, plus, if you want an Amarr suit that's combat viable, you can still pick the logi. It's a great balance. Making all the suits the same is a terrible idea.
It is not different than how it is done in EVE. If had to say two things that CCP did completely perfect it would be the economy and the way perks are handed down through the ships. Being an Amarr purist is no less viable than any other way of playing. You have to use your bonus that the ship grants you or it is a waste of a hull. That's why people don't fly logi ships to fight in, they fly logi ships to do logi stuff in because the bonuses are there.
Gal support frigate Navitas Traits: Gallente Frigate skill bonus per level: 10% bonus to Remote Armor Repair System repair amount 10% reduction in Remote Armor Repair System capacitor use
Role Bonus: 500% bonus to range of remote armor repair systems
Gal combat frigate Incursus Traits: Gallente Frigate skill bonus per level: 7.5% bonus to Armor Repairer effectiveness 5% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret damage
Gal combat frigate Atron Traits: Gallente Frigate skill bonus per level: 10% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret falloff 5% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret damage
Role Bonus: 80% reduction in Propulsion Jamming systems activation cost
52 frigates counting only the four racial t1 and t2 hulls. This is how it should/will be for the scout class and the mediums should have the same, a few less for the heavy suits but yeah that many. Light, Medium and Heavy all should have the same battlefield roles, for the most part, but do them differently. I am not saying that the three sizes should all have logi, ewar, short and long range and the like but they should be close to having them.
I am not saying take anything from them. Nothing radical like only let scouts carry sidearms and shot guns or anything like that. I am saying that the light class of suit should have a logi role in each race. The scout size would be great if they had put bonuses on suits instead of the way they are. Each race could have 6-10 scout suits. That is about 30 suits just in the light frame size.
The only way we will able to move forward is to change the way per level bonuses are applied and where they come from. The suit perk system and the economy are my only two let downs in this game. I can handle the bs op/up and the lack of selection in "core" items or any technical issues but it pi$$es me off about the economy and perks. Those are my two favorite things because that is what drives EVE. ISK and math.

It's in Eve, therefore it should be in Dust? That's it? Come on man, this is an opportunity to create and/or maintain some real diversity in this game. There has to be a better reason to restrict our choices in the game than conformity to existing trends.
How does it restrict choices? If anything it broadens them. As of right now you can only get the perk that skill gives you when you wear the suit. 2 assault bonus and 2 logi. That is restricting diversity. How do we do anything different if there are only these two options?

How do we do anything different if there are only these two options? This idea that factions should stick to their own gear serves no gameplay purpose. It restricts choices because rather than having all weapons, and finding a way to make a bonus work for your weapon, you are instead told that unless you adhere to some lore-based principle, you don't get any bonus. In defending these racial bonuses, you only need answer one question: Why is it important to the game that a Gallente suit should use a Gallente weapon?
Same reason Amarr assault gets a bonus to laser weapons. Running an Amarr assault with anything but a scram or laser is wasting the bonus for the suit.
