An assault stands right next to a logi, who do you kill first? The assault of course, they're easier to kill. |

I encountered this with a friend yesterday.
Unfortunately for the spider tanking group, we were both carrying core locus. It pretty much hard-counters anything with 'armour' remotely involved.

Spider tanking in Dust is pointless. The entire structure behind spider tanking is that one repper can out-tank multiple opponents and you can operate those reppers while shooting the enemy.
In dust, even with the repper buffs, a single repper cannot tank ANY opponent. DPS will always win the race.
It's more akin to having a non-combat logistics ship that can't even save one person.
Reppers in Dust are worthless. Even now. |

Spider tanking with vehicles used to work pretty well when a few of us from TSOLE did it in Codex or something but I don't know if it's any good these days. But you're right 1 logi repping is useless and it's not really worth it taking out 3-4 guys just to keep one guy alive, as it would be much easier (and faster) to all shoot the enemy and kill them before they even have a chance to do damage. The only place I can see this strat being even semi-viable is in pubby ambushes and domination.
To the OP it's only going to be good until people realise that burst damage counters high regen per second.

Wait... since I was against you and I dropped the OB on your squad... does this mean that the repping-duo was in your team?
Anyway, did you survive my OB? I just wanted to kill Bastard I, since he steals all my kills when we play together, lol. No harm was intended for you GÖÑ
