Note: This thread was written around the time of 1.4. Now that I think about it, this could be the answer to low TTK, just double the module slots, but unlike my original idea don't cut in half the effectiveness of modules.
Honestly, customization doesnGÇÖt feel substantial in this game. Especially after seeing the BF4 footage where all the items were shown, I was stunned.
I feel like this can be solved, if there were less single packed powerful modules, but multiple weak modules. So for example, cutting the HP on the complex plates in half, but increasing low slot counts by double, has a net effect of 0 on suit potential HP, but you can use a different module in that second slot, instead of having to use another plate. Basically having a null effect on stuff like eHP or DPS, but MASSIVELY increasing the amount of combinations you could have. This is important to understand, I am not creating new modules, I am not creating new suits, I am increasing the customization by a LOOOT without too much development effort, and without skyrocketing HP or damage. And we all know how little time CCP has for these things.
Example: Gallente Assault gK.0, 8 low slots, 6 high slots (Pre update itGÇÖs 4/3): Since modules effectiveness is cut in half, and the module slots are doubled, the net effect is the same. 4x current complex plates + 210 base HP = 750 armor 8x new complex plates at half the performance each, + 210 base HP = 750 armor. But letGÇÖs say I donGÇÖt want the full effect of a plate, I want half, and the other half, I want half a kin cat. BAM, now I got it. So I created much more combinations, while barely having to do any work as a dev. (Compared to creating a new suit or module) The biggest change CCP would have to do most likely, is to rescale the UI in the fitting screen so it could hold that many modules.

I was thinking about this the other day - +1.
I would like to see this. The issue with doubling the slots to increase TTK is that weapons like the SR and ScR don't really have all that much room to manouevre as it is; while they kill things quickly, they can't do it repeatedly (thanks to clip capacity on one and overheat on the other.) Pumping up EHP would still require a serious rebalance.

I support this idea wholeheartedly. It does have a net effect of allow a greater customization and allowing more choices. While decreasing the module benefits they would also need to have a similar reduction in CPU/PG cost which is a bonus as well. Perhaps a cost reduction is in order as well at this point for all modules by the same percentage everything else would be reduced by.

+1 Good Idea Cat! Yeah, that was talked about too. I thought it's kind of obvious that a CPU/PG and a price reduction would happen too.

Read my thread below on active mods, its a very very simple fix to ttk, adding more of an mmo feel and slightly negating grenade spam.
Level 1 forum warrior.

If you think about it, even adding more slots just adds a fraction of a second and costs more, its not a fix.
