Protostomping is ridiculous CCP. This is coming from a person in all Proto.
I just endured four matches in a row where I was on a team against a loaded team with squads from Kill-Em-Quick, Hell[somethings], Subdreddit and LATINOS KILLERS CORP, among many others.
All of them in proto. All of them redline sniping. All of them utterly annihilating us in record time. All of them hitting us with three orbitals before we can even get one out. I end my matches on average in the low teens to upper twenties in kills, and almost always with more than 1000 WP. I'm not some nameless scrub who blows at DUST and is crying foul. But I barely was able to get two kills. One match I got three, that was a lucky grenade.
If I, a player since the MPT (And before, arguably, I've been salivating over Dust since Fanfest 09), think this ish is way out of balance and way WAY too easy to exploit, then I can only wonder how a new player trying to find something new from the latest CoD and BF cycle will feel as his militia gear ass is being pulverized under the blinged out boots of Kill Em Quick every other match.
I have ideas. You are welcome to them. I won't demand a paycheck or special treatment. Please, can we sit down and figure this out? Please? I never beg game developers for anything but free swag at game conventions, but I genuinely love this game and it's potential, and I want to see it succeed almost more than I do EVE.
TL;DR why do I always get put on the team opposite from these people? Am I so good individually that the matchmaker thinks I will balance it out? Hehe |

I agree. It's an issue.
Public matches should be sorted according to SP, when possible.

Yup, see my post here for photo evidence of the awfulness: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=120091 My solution as posted in that thread: Mostly I think this could be fixed with a two-step matchmaking process. First, the matchmaker should grab the first 32 players who queue. Then, out of this set of 32, it should partition it into two teams, first splitting by squad (squad A goes to team 1, squad B goes to team 2, squad C goes to team 1, etc) and then splitting randoms in SP order (i.e. clone w/ 24 mil to team 1, clone w/ 22 mil to team 2, clone w/ 21 mil to team 1, etc). Now, this may not always result in perfectly even teams, but that's just fine- someone has to win, after all, but it would be a huge improvement over the current system. |

Not necessarily.
SP does not always denote quality of gear and implementation of said gear.
I think a metric needs to be determined that takes into account lifetime average WP, average WP from the last 30 days, and an invisible (To us) cumulative "gear score" derived from the "item level" of the gear we have equipped.
When in a squad, use cumulative scoring from each individual to match up against similarly skilled squads. I've never been in a match as a tagalong where I've seen KEQ vs. Subdreddit, or similar. I'd LOVE to see that. I live for those matches, and I've never seen them. But I cannot and will not be assed to be a part of a large corp again, so I won't be in squad with them, and I suppose I always draw the short straw and never get put on teams with them :) |

...Except that measurements based on WP is mostly going to target logis. Kills/wins seems way simpler and effective.
It's almost funny, because it seems to be getting worse every day. |

It really is getting worse everyday.
And yeah, I agree and see the hole in my system up there. Logi's would be unfairly targeted.
So lifetime AWP and AWP from the last 14 days (Decided it should be lower than 30), coupled with the gear score, and lifetime kill/death ratio with lifetime wins/losses taken into consideration too.
I am not a programmer or mathematician so I don't know what an example number would look like, because I wouldn't know how to write out the formula. |

theres a simple reason why matchmaking doesn't work....
small player base.
if you want it to work the way you expect it to with such small player numbers means you would either be in matches of less than 16v16 and most likely lop sided with one side having more people and/or you will be waiting 10 min for a match....
