Is it just me, or did the Assault Rifles distance get an increase? My Laser Rifle at its optimal range against an Assault Rifle and I'm getting tagged pretty hard. This is not a complaint, just curious. Thanks in advance. |

Unlike many other weapons the Ar doesn't have a hard falloff so you could be 65-85 meters out and still get 10-19 points of hp taken off with each bullet.

Is this new with 1.6? Or am I just noticing this now with better hit detection implemented? |

The Ar was given insane damage to compensate for hit detection, other single shot weapons just did zero damage when they missed (ex shotgun) but AR users still wanted to pound hard even when hit detection wasn't perfect.
Since hit detection was fixed in 1.6 while keeping the same insane damage means that the old maximum fall out range is now performing like its old optimal range damage output.
Essentially, it now has is damage increase and its old sharpshooter skill back

Thanks. That explains it then. That is some great damage and wonderful range on those things now. Guess I will have to bite the bullet and finally skill into them. |

1.7 is going to be introducing two new rifles, if you liked the laser rifle you might want to wait for the rail rifle, its max range is about 100 m and its optimum is like 70.
While the AR is is currently indisputably gods choice of weaponry right now its going to get balanced (ONLY because other ARs are coming out) in the near future by having its max and optimal range cut down.

Yeah the AR right now is over 20% effective at 100m, despite the fact that its effective range (30% damage) is theoretically around 70m. It's just a stupidly generous falloff formula, especially compared to the LR. |
