The real problem in this game is there is no true defining roles and your gear fails to live up to the cost.
A militia rifle should be a low damage with low range. This should make you want to skill up to another level. If you are running BPO or starter gear and you are broke, WTF are you spending the ISK on. Its no ones fault you cant manage your ISK.
The advance should have improved damage and range over the militia. This should be the standard most should be running at all times.
Proto should clearly be better than any other weapon or suit in lower Tier. Used for PC, FW, or when you just feel like you want to do something a little different, or used to turn the tide of a losing battle.
The problem is the militia weapon is only slightly worse than advance or proto. The way to solve that is Damage Mods and then you are doing as much as Advanced or higher.
The problem is you spend your time grinding SP for what? So you can lose to a BPO or militia suit because they fired first.
If I stack Complex shields and Armor on an Advance Assault suit only to be killed by a Militia rifle in 2-3 seconds makes you wonder what is the point of working for SP. I worked hard to get the skills and gear I have, but to lose to lower tier gear only because they fired first, is BS. I should be able to shrug off the first few rounds and engage them. Instead my shields are depleted and my armor is now half gone before I can return fire. A suit that has 700+ eHP should not lose to a suit just pushing 300+ eHP with a militia rifle.
We have scouts with shotguns that are better at point defense than heavies are. Scouts should be assassins and heavies should be able to hold a point against multiple targets, not getting slaughtered by a militia rifle.
A logi should not be out playing an assault, because in CCP's infinite wisdom they decided to give Logi's more slots and CPU/PG allowing them to be better slayers than Assaults. An assault suit cannot tank as much as a Logi due to lower slots and CPU/PG. Assaults should be given a buff to CPU/PG and Logi should have it slots reduced and limited to a sidearm. You wanted to be a logi, act like one and stop running around with tanked out suits with weapons with no support to show. A logi is supposed to be a support role, that means you are a medic, a mechanic, or resupply not assault. Leave the protection role to the assault or the heavy and do your job, like keeping us alive with ammo and reps.
This is how I feel. If you feel the same or other wise, give a response.

Also, I have to disagree with you when you say that proto should be able to shrug off a militia suit's fire and kill them anyway. If that's the case, then newbie stomping is awful. You can't honestly expect a newbie to grind SP for months on end through such protostomping - there is literally no chance for them if proto can tank them and kill them even if they do everything right.
That is were we would have proper match making. Those in there tiers play with there tiers. Then when they reach a certain level, they move up to the next.
