Who here wouldn't mind if we split the Grenadier skill up among the current grenades, with a lower multiplier? It could give a topical bonus to each individual grenade type. If we added one more, we could even make them fit the racial theme of other equipment.
Base Skill-Grenadier (x1) --- Gives access to the grenade tree of skills. Minmatar-Locus Grenade (x3) --- Gives access to Locus Anti-Infantry Grenades. Caldari-AV Grenade (x3) --- Gives access to Magnetic Anti-Vehicular Grenades. Gallente-Flux Grenade (x3) --- Gives access to Flux Anti-Electronic Grenades. Amarr-Pulse Grenade (x3) --- Gives access to Pulse Anti-Infantry Grenades.
First question, What are Pulse Grenades? They are basically a Locus Grenade, but with reversed Shield/Armor bias. Meant for cracking Dual Tanked suits by shredding their shields, but unlike the Flux Grenade, still doing damage to the armor layer of their targets.
Second Question; What about Skill Bonuses? I didn't want to put Skill Bonuses up there, as they tend to make people get bogged down in minutia about how much each bonus should do and why they aren't good, or what bonuses would be better. I will add the bonuses in later, but by all means suggest some to all five skills.
Final Question; Why would you do this? his allows for you to specialize into one grenade type at the same SP level it would take to get the current Grenadier skill (x4). This is similar to the new Rifles in a separation of roles, and more importantly it allows each grenade to get a specific bonus as well as an across-the-board one on the Grenadier skill. This in turn allows each grenade to become more useful in their assigned roles as you level them up, instead of a single bonus on the one skill (damage, radius, fitting, etc).

Just one? I thought Cores only worked in groups of 3? Seems like everytime I see one I see at least 3 in a row on nearly the same flight path. |

Yes, grenades can be used alot from hives. Tangentially related at best...

Until locus grenades get toned down to the level where choosing something else is still viable everyone would just spec into core locus and AV grenades. |

Maybe. I do hope that Grenades would be nerfed somewhat. Maybe larger radius, but decreased damage by a ton and a half. Higher tiers give more radius for larger groups. Something like that. Honestly I've never been fond of grenades, but I want to try and make the skill investment for them be more regimented and make that give way to a better set of bonuses. Throwing one grenade shouldn't be enough to kill someone in an RPG setup, not when they come in threes.
