I know we only have the base stats for these and we don' know how they actually perform BUT if you could skill only one of these two what will it be and why? |

Rail Rifle for the long range and obvious short range capabilities it will have. it will basically be today's AR equivalent of 1.7.
the combat rifle is meh, really. 3 round burst? i'm pretty sure we have an AR that does that. plus i'm willing to bet that it will still be beat by ARs in its optimal.
plus, i imagine the Rail Rifle will sound quite cool.
How exactly does a Biscuit gain Valor?

That's tough. I don't like to get into fire fights, I pilot vehicles now....
But the Caldari have always been my Favourite Race I just love their aesthetic and design and combat style.... though I am a Davion/Orkinezz man through and through and LUV DA DAKKA!

I'm going to take the super insane M16. Once I get my GalMand'oh, and pairing it up with the Plasma Cannon will make for some devastation.

If I had skilled into the Plasma Rifle, I'd pick up the Rail to have them compliment each other's ranges. However I have the Scrambler, so I'll get the Combat to have an anti-armour counterpart.

Well since the normal AR gets the TAC and burst I guess neither
Why train a skill that only unlocks 2 guns when you could have all 4 racial gun types by training gallente. |

There's noticeable differences, certainly range but other factors as well. The Combat Rifle will be beloved by any fans of the Battle Rifle from Halo 3...though it fires even faster, and has a small clip. Ammo/reload management will be key.
The Rail Rifle fires similarly to the breach and for lovely damage but users will be fighting some impressive upward kick. Feather-firing is the instinctive workaround....but consider the spool-up time.
Both should be fun additions that differ enough from the Plasma variants to be worth investigating. Do be smart though....don't dump all your points in until you've tested standard versions out thoroughly! |

If I had to choose just one I would go with the RR That thing is going to be beastly when it comes to holding open areas and gives you a chance to kill all those roof top campers without having to break out a sniper rifle

For me it's a tough call, I'm looking at both for my Minmatar assault since my main is rocking an AScR which looks like it will be even better come 1.7. Thing is my SMG is already my main with that so I would think that the Rail Rifle would better complement that. However, the combat rifle will be easier to fit and can also fill the med/med-long range role while I still use the SMG for short/short-mid range gun fights.
So I think I'm going to have to see how the standards of each feel when actually used and run some numbers to see if I can fit the Rail without having to drastically alter my suit set up.
BTW this is the part of Dust I really do love, trying to optimize a fitting. |

Please let me do this CCP raRaRa Lol my first chosen race was Caldari, I have loved them for a very long time, I like efficiency, progression based on merits, and high tech, valorous, dedicated, and loyal groups. The Caldari fit those Idea perfectly.
The Amarr do that second best, then Matari, then Gallente.
That way I could have joined PAUX and kept my Cal Rail Rifle with style and lore.
