I have suggested a bayonet skill before but people won't even tell me I'm stupid. I guess that no one but us two want it.

That would be great as an alt fire option. Pick flaylock missile or nova knife assault rifle attachments. |

Instead of hitting them with the weapon you could thrust at them with the bayonet. Hand to hand Level 3 and Bayonet level 1 required. Each level of the Bayonet skill reduces the stamina taken by 5%.

I'd love a bayonet, I don't think it should be a skill though.
Once we get rail/underbarrel attachments, then it should most definitely be an option.

I disagree, anything that changes the game from its basic form should require a skill and most skills should improve the performance of the item skilled into but not all. By forcing players to choose the skill they put SP into we create specialized play styles and diversity. Allowing anyone to perform every action as default doesn't promote diverse play.

Weapon customization has been 'under development' for a long time now. I'm guessing reworking core code put it on the back burner. But, to answer your original post:
I'd love to be able to add an Amarr Dropsuit opener to the end of my Combat Rifle. It should enhance melee damage but also reduce accuracy due to the added weight and throwing the weapon off balance some.
I think there should be a Melee skill that affects melee damage without requiring the use of biotics, like in the old builds.

This coming from the only Minny in a mainly Amarrian corp, but hey I've brain washed them into running fw for minmatar 30% of the time.
Trust me you wouldn't want our guys doing Amarr fw 100% of the time.

I'll keep the shotty in play until we can throw the damn things.
Be cool to have bleed out over time damage. Be happy to pick it up from the corpse to reuse.
