Afternoon, CCP! This idea came about after my Ghost Recon Unit squad competed in the Dust Squad cup. We played against Grupo de Asalto Charcal America, and lost, learning how the big corps do it up. But one thing that was noticeable was what I call the SKILLS PARADIGM:
As a person first learns the mechanics of the game, their skills are often not enough to compete head to head against a greater adversary. Thus, the individual learns tactics and strategies, cover/ concealment and environmentals, to assist and compensate for the lack of skills and experience. Once the Experience becomes balanced (and NOT necessarily the Skills), it is around the same time that technology enters (Advance/ Proto level weapons) that becomes used to compensate for the lack of skills, patience, and tactics. When you are around PROTO access, little skills are required as "The One with the bigger, more powerful, weapon, wins." Thus enters the Zerg Tactics: group up, hunt them down, kill, rinse, repeat, until the red line stops us.
GAC America handled us well and stomped us properly. We weren't fully PROTO, but we entered to get the learning experience, and would GLADLY welcome it again. They were wonderful. HOWEVER, they won by PROTO and Zerg. We, Ghost Recon Unit, had them on the TACTICS. We were first to the Objective (the WHOLE TEAM), but our bullets were bouncing off of them; they were cutting through us like Rice Paper. Lost the Objective, tried to red-line us. But we were able, with Tactics to throw them off/ catch them off-guard/ Rope-A-Dope, regain the Objective 3 times. JUST didn't have the FULL PROTO to maintain and sustain! Battle WELL FOUGHT, FULL RESPECT to GAC to have the opportunity to play against them!
So I propose THIS: an ALL MILITIA ONLY LEVEL Competition! Rules are simple:
1. Anything and everything is allowed: dropsuits, weapons, LAV, HAV, turrets, Dropships, etc. BUT ONLY MILITIA LEVEL!
2. ALL BPO allowed, since that would give us usage of the now deceased Veteran/ Elite/ Merc Packs.
3. Anything OTHER than MILITIA (outside of BPOs), in any shape/ form/ aspect (lv. 2 stuff), that cannot be found currently on the market, FULL disqualification.
I believe THIS would be one of the MOST INTERESTING Competitions to exist, hands down! All of the big corps that made it with the ISK and technology, going up against some no name corporation, on a LEVELED playing field. We would QUICKLY find out what the QUALITY of some of these TOP 100 corporations are made of. No crying, no bull*ish, no "My gun jammed", no "You only won because of ________." , NONE OF THAT. Yeah, this is my kind of match: same weapons, same tech, same stuff. All about PUT YOUR SKILLS WHERE YOUR ISK IS!

Really if CCp where to reset all accounts and their SP just for a week, you would not find the people who are topping the leaderbords right now on them after that week.
Honestly there's not a lot to do about it, sadly CCP are bound by the PS3's restrictions so they cannot make huge battles with like 50 mercs on either side making the individuals skills much less dominant while making the overall strategy much much more important (like in eve, 50 dudes in dreadnaughts (pretty big ships) cannot do anything against 500 dudes in very small ships  )
Right now you sadly gotta have proto guns, dropsuits, armor mods and.... damage mods to be in any position to battle the big guys  |

The ALL Militia Dust Cup would be an OPEN invitation to any Corporation that wanted to show their worth/mettle, the validity of their ranking, the quality of their skills. ALL Militia/ BPO, everything that anyone can access, would be used. As such, I would also like to add the following:
4: A list of ALL Militia gear and BPOs allowed would be posted and verified by all, so as to no confusion about what can or cannot be used. If something is missed, then it can be verified and add to the list of ALLOWED ITEMS.
CCP, let's level the playing field, and get some REAL competition going (since the PROTO pub-stomping isn't stomping anytime soon, lol)!
