Corpmate just posted this on our site, this game looks good no doubt but stuff like this is the reason I dont play casual shooters.

The ability to shoot THROUGH protection you're using? HOGWASH. Please don't make mistakes like this with deployable shields and be super careful with the cloak....please. Err on the side of caution.
Not a bitter vet, but i'll be back when we have 10 game modes, jets, all racial suits/wpns and EVE has a reason to care.

What would be the benefit of cover that you can deploy that you can't shoot through?
Many games do it that way, and many don't. Personally, I'm in favor of being able to shoot through it.

There is no sense to it unless this happens to be the universe of Stargate where one-way shields exist. Even then, you only saw that in the TV series and not in a game.
Many major games have deployable shields especially high-tier games like Halo. But Halo's bubble shield doesn't allow you to shoot through the shield in any direction. You can walk through it, but throwing a grenade or firing a weapon at it will result in the bullets deflecting and the grenades bouncing off.
Even though the ability to shield through a one-way shield seems awesome (and it does), it only looks fun in the movies or TV series. But in the game world, especially on first-person shooters, it an overpowered game mechanic that will make everyone demand a nerf to it.
CCP, please fix the Nova Knives. Thank you.

TBH, IDK how I feel about Deployable Shields you can shoot through. I think that there would pros and cons to both methods.
Cloaking however, I hope that is done like Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier. If scouts got a passive invisibility like that and Cloaking Devices improved upon that, I think it'd be awesome.

Flux grenades. Problem solved.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

Simple, bubble shield cant shoot through it job done Exactly. If we make it to where people can shoot through the shields then we'd have entire squads of Logis spamming bubble shields and mowing down everyone while being practically invincible.

Maken Tosch wrote: Also, if a bullet can pass through the shield in one way, then it should stand to reason that a bullet can pass through in the opposite way. If you can't shoot through the shield that you deployed, neither can the enemy. Don't ask for OP stuff.
Using the same active camouflage processor that can cloak a dropsuit via ray-tracing, the nanomachines will maintain a constant link with the rifile, and upon detecting the appropriate FoF signals, can open a timed gap with the smallest possible aperture for both the user and his allies' weapons fire.
Make it vulnerable to flux, give it a short duration, and it could be fun....also, maybe make it a grenade slot item that you just drop at your feet-and highly resistant to explosives - a kind of hard counter for core spam. |

Okay my question back to the shields is would it be something you'd want to be able to walk through while its powered? Remember the bubbles are supposed to be deployed to even to protect against orbital strikes.

If you bump into it you won't go through, but if you walk straight out or sprint, you will leave the shields.

I say yes. It would let teams set up fall back points while also giving a weakness to the shields other than destroying them (especially if they are going to be strong enough to withstand orbitals. |

Why not have 2 shield types? One for energy one for explosive?
I guess it would require a rework but in general I think it would be more dynamic if say lasers could shot through some shields for instance |

What would be wrong with having both options? Have one bubble shield did you can walk through, then a second which acts more like a wall of force

These bubble shields have the potential to be very unique pieces of gear. What if you could deploy an enhanced version of a shield by activating it whilst it's still in your dropsuit (select it then and hit L1, like blowing REs), and essentially you can't move but the bubble around you is drawing extra energy from the dropsuit to create a stronger field? This could be the shield strength required to deflect orbitals. Where as if you take it out and deploy on the ground it's less powerful, and you can walk in and out of it.
All shields should allow movement in and out, so you can't accidently trap your team in a bubble as they're spawning into a CRU, basically free kills for any enemy to kill.
Shields should allow bullets through but assuming the shield is made of some kind of intelligent energy field, perhaps it reduces damage from enemy fire MORE than friendly fire? Variants could increase the amount of damage reduction for enemy fire or reduce the reduction to friendly fire.
Please let shields deflect grenades. This is the only feature that should be tested rigorously. If grenades could enter bubbles (besides flux maybe) we are all doomed.

better yet. it should defend against orbitals and weapons, but if either the enemy or shield user passes through it. it should dissipate.
that prevents the peekaboo foolishness. |
