Hip-firing: perfect amount of dispersion ADS: like an automatic sniper rifle, even when jumping around and dancing back and forth.
I don't get it. The Assault Scrambler has it. The SMG has it. Yet the AR is able to punch 60 rounds into someone faster than they can turn around and react, even at long ranges.
Through testing I found these things out:
AR: Hipfire -Longer you fire the higher your gun goes. Good amount of dispersion. ADS -Starts to get less accurate at 30 rounds in (gun climbs up, dispersion goes up). -First 30 rounds will land perfectly on target where you're aiming. If you pause and then continue firing, all 60 rounds will hit the same spot. -Gun resets to original position when you let go of the trigger.
Assault Scrambler Rifle: Hipfire -Slightly larger cone of dispersion (maybe because I have level 1 sharpshooter for AR). -Gun does not climb even after 72 rounds. -Gun kick causes weapon to fire slightly above where you're aiming though. ADS -Shots jump around where you're aiming. -First shot will ALWAYS land on target, every shot afterwards has a bit of dispersion. Manually pulling the trigger results in much higher accuracy. (probably because of reset) -Gun resets to original position when you let go of the trigger.
So apparently because the dispersion of the AR doesn't kick in until 30 rounds have been fired, that's the whole reason the gun fires like an automatic sniper rifle.

More proof that ARs are scrubsticks.

As a former MAG player,the term "dispersion" makes me very nervous.
When I hear the word dispersion,I think of random bullet spread.
When I think about random bullet spread,I think about Scot Rudi and the infamous patch 1.03.
When I think of 1.03,I think about how many players left MAG when Battlefield Bad Company 2 came out two weeks later.
Not saying that the RBS is nearly as bad as it it in MAG,but I feel like it is a skill that isn't very well defined or pronounced as what it's described.

I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

Combat Rifle is a different story though....

As far as I know, ARs are gallente's main perfected weapon and amarr's perfected weapon is the semi automatic scrambler rifle. Comparing scrambler rifle to gallente's TAC rifle, which would you say is superior? Now do the same comparison with gallente's main weapon, the AR, to amarr's replicated assault tech.
From my understanding, each race will have their best version of a certain weapon while the other races have a less than effective version to replicate the weapon.
Seeing as amarr's assault scrambler is a variant, I think that was done on purpose so they dont overshadow every weapon type there is, giving each race a chance to be able to do something better than what every other race could do. |

I can confirm these findings independently. Everyone else can aswell, and here is how;
I used a Commando A-1 suit with both a GEK and a CRD-9.
Find a spot where you will not be bothered near a building that shows round impacts nicely. Walk back to 30-40 meters, fire at the building using hipfire and then switch and do the same. Now do it again with ADS. Report findings.
I have found at 30+ meters that the CRD-9 is getting close to useless because of insane dispersion when compared to the AR. This is pretty funny when you consider that the Scrambler rifle is supposed to heartily outrange the AR. |

So the CRD has;
-Much higher fitting -LVL 4 just to get into -Overheat -Insane muzzle flash -Higher kick -less accurate ADS +Higher damage +larger clip
While the TAC AR has; -no charge shot -lvl 4 just to get into -smaller magazine -lower ROF +no overheat +better scope +less fitting
Thats not balanced.

You can throw math, video evidence or anything else at the fact that the damn thing is OP and tryhards will argue otherwise with as much flaming and ad hominem as they can at you. Hell, they'll probably post your stats and KDR on the forums to try and ridicule you if you disagree too much. (As if it matters) We should all just use nothing but ARs and see how fun this game can be.

I'm just using the closest weapon to compare to.
The reason why the SR is balanced is because it actually has dispersion when ADS (as an automatic weapon). The AR does not have this balancing factor until it has fired off half of its magazine.
