can i just say i dont run heavy HMG so im not speaking from experience with all the skills maxed out bla bla bla!
im speaking from the stand point of engaging heavy HMGs..
and first of all without sounding immature.. what the hell is this weapon suppose to be? or your illistration of how this weapon should behave? because i really, really dont see any use for it on the battlefield.
iv had countless occasions now where i have "solo'd" a heavy at close range/long range and honestly just felt embaressed for other player^
for example. proto heavy engages me 60-70 meters with his boundless HMG i turn around to see what was firing at me adopt a stable firing postion (crouch) he crouches too and it was almost magical i wasnt sure what was happening at the time because it looked like someone was throwing skittles at me! or tickling me!.. so i lined up the headshot (not hard with a TV head) and half a clip later of a miltia assault rifle with 1 militia dmg mod and the heavy was.. "turned to dust".
^^ now none of this probly sounds shocking to any of you because im sure you have enough experiences of your own.
but id just like to point out that for a dropsuit that has minimal mobilty, low CPU and PG and no equipment slot.. it should be able to engage enemys effectively at well in excess to 100m minimum! my goodness hes carrying around an auto cannon 20,000 years in the future ffs??
dispersion..... yes dispersion like WOW!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30Ddn5e598Y
also where the hell have you taken you statistics of this weapon from.. EVE? dragon ball z? because it isnt anyone who has had any military experience with weapon systems i.e
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BXm2O7zpjo
to conclude; this just shows that even me a player that doesnt use the load out wants the class to get reworked or removed from the game.
anything you guys want to add about your experiences or would like to prove me wrong? then please provide sensible and helpful feedback.

if you think i want the heavy to be like this^^ think again.. i just want balance.

I see. That minigun didn't kill anyone, hence it's unbalanced.

When people on the opposing end of a weapon say it needs a buff, it really needs a buff. Been saying for a while that the Uprising heavy suit is fine, forge gunners don't have a problem because their weapon works, a heavy with an AR don't have a problem because their gun works, give a heavy an HMG and unless you're close enough to spit on your target, the damn thing doesn't work. Please Wolfman, fix the HMG.

I agree the HMG isn't the best overall heavy weapon, but maybe it wasn't meant to be. We haven't seen the other racial heavy weapons yet. We have the HMG, devastating in close quarters but disgusting in all other aspects. We have the forge gun, long range anti vehicle with anti-infantry capability for skilled users. So perhaps a medium-range Gallentean plasma autocannon, and an Amarrian laser cannon for other scenarios... and heavies should be happy.

The only time I liked the hmg heavy was back in replication. They rocked assault frames and scouts very easily with no mods ran circles around them while pecking them to death. |

I've said it before, I really feel like I should be scared sh!tless if I turn a corner and some massive armored suit holding a freaking mini gun is lumbering towards me. I certainly was in beta, not so much now.

A short range weapon on a low mobility suit is a BAD IDEA. This is why scouts are best for shotguns, because mobility is needed to close the gap if the weapon has bad range. A projectile weapon should have decent range, makes me worried that a Gallente heavy weapon will be so close range that it will be useless; plasma weapons have the shortest ranges.

my thoughts exactly^^
and with the nerfs to the forge gun coming up the heavys anti infantry capabilties leave it gimped, compared to the other suits :/

Thank you for this thread. We heavies really do need all the support we can get, both on and off the battlefield. I was going to start a thread to ask this question, but then came across this one so I figured I'd ask it here. And this is a legitimate question. I'm seeking a legitimate answer. This is not a QQ as whining grates on my nerves and is against my religion.
I've only ever run heavy suits and have never touched a logistics suit (though I'm looking at skilling into one soon). I got 2 shotted twice in the same match by a CRG-3 shotgun in a logi suit. I'm not sure if the suit was standard or advanced. I know it wasn't proto. I was running an advanced sentinel heavy 506 HP shield 776HP armor. I know this is not maxed out. I've skilled into both basic and sentinel proto heavy suits and have maxed protection on those, this is just what I was running at the time. Both times I was killed I had just spawned in, no other engagements, so I had full shields and armor. Each time I spawned in I ran into this guy, I heard 2 shots and I was down. Maybe he got a 3rd in that I didn't hear. But I heard that distinctive shotgun boom... boom... and I was down. I really don't think there were 3, but there again, maybe I didn't hear it.
So my question is: Can anyone explain how to build a standard or advanced logi suit and shotgun combo that can take down 1,282 HP in 2 possibly 3 shots. I'm asking you logi builders out there. I would truly like to know, if you don't care to share your secrets. |

There is no use for a *heavy* machine gun that doesnt outrange a rifle, ive been bitchin about this gun to an almost manical degree for months now.
...And the HP buff to heavies is also an joke, yeah lets give the beached whale with little chance to fight back more HP! CCP logic in a nutshell.
FYI, ive been a machinegunner in the army so i know first hand how powerfull and accurate RL machine guns are, it can cut a brickhouse in two from a mile away, its an orgasmic godlike feeling when using a machine gun, but in dust i feel as powerfull as an crippled old man (or woman) with a butterknife swimming in a pool with sharks.

Hopefully with the HP buff, its role as supression & point defence will be improved. The only time I get killed by a HMG is when I don't leave the area its user has claimed. That's its role, but it can be very boring, and I miss the times when I used mine to mow down entire squads in tight maps.

The HMG needs the same Sharpshooter -5% dispersion/level skill that the AR and SMG have and it'd be fine.
In fact, every automatic weapon should have that skill. There's absolutely no reason for the AR and SMG to get preferential treatment.

I joined in 1.4, there's a reason why my FG and AR profs are 5 and my HMG is still at 3. I specialized into heavy originally for the HMG, I had no idea the forge existed when I made my character. However I only bring it out in very special circumstances now, all heavy weapons shouldn't be "niche" weapons.
The Forge is great with proper elevation and limited obstruction to LOS the HMG underperformed unless your already within shotgun/melee range, desperately needs reduction in dispersion |

I can't like this post enough. I used to be one of the feared HMG users a few builds ago. Then they pissed all over it. I miss actually being able to lay down supressing and area denial fire as well as helping push a forward assault. When I got the respec I went all forge and SMG. Now the only time a HMG gets me is when he manages to drive up and jump out a LAV length away or less from me. The HMG doesn't even scare me in my paper mache scout/scrambler rifle fit. |

Won't matter. It just means that, on my alt, they might take half of my 177 shields instead of one third before my scrambler rifle kills them. |

I think we just need all the core racial heavy suits and heavy weapons so the class can be balanced within itself instead of lowered down to the standards of medium frames and light weapons. The HMG needs to straight up outgun other weapons like it did in the past, forcing smaller frames to change their strategy instead of these CoD tactics people use now.
Hell, I still see players trying to camp corners like they can go prone. If anyone that does that in Dust and is reading this, please stop.

Thanks silverback for the post but ccp isn't listening to either heavies or scouts cries for help. They only care about the majority. Which is ar users, medium frames, and hav users ( in some cases). I've been on sense early beta and I've seen it all. The hmg I used back then to now is like I'm just shooting a nerf gun from walmart. Hopefully the Caldari hmg will blow my mind since I'm going to rock nothing but caldari gear. |
