Realistically, CCP has a lot more important things on their plate right now than fixing the broken revive mechanics.
The current system is a reasonable but failed attempt to correct the previous bugs that made reviving difficult and unrewarding. These included not being able to tell when a teammate had fallen and the issue where the "spot" to revive was different than where the body came to rest.
The current system is a problem for several reasons:
1. The majority of players in Pub matches are not running Proto gear. My "expensive" STD / ADV Heavy fit only costs 46K, I can die 3 times per match and still break even. If your running only STD, the margin is higher. Reviving is not that much of a savings for STD gear so many players don't see it as a benefit
2. The argument that revives save clones ignores the fact that revives without good tactics probably results in a net loss of clones. If you're running thru enemy fire to revive someone, you are not helping your team
3. If you are killed at a point where you are out of ammo / grenades, respawning with full health / ammo may be preferable, especially if you run a fit without hives
4. The argument that you should spam the respawn button if you don't want to be revived is a weak response that ignores the core issue. Being revived without warning from the overview map is poor design decision. If the battle is changing, you should have as long as you need to switch between fits or decide which available spawn is best
Given the delays to the vehicle update, I don't expect the core issues with Reviving to be addressed any time soon. Would players support a temporary removal of the militia / STD injectors until CCP has the time to address the core game mechanic? There is already a precedent for this with stripping the vehicle types down and then building them back out. ADV injectors are still dirt cheap, but at least there is the Lv 3 SP investment in Nanocircuitry.

I'd just like to see the WP system changed so that you're only rewarded 60WP, if the player you revived stays alive for x amount of seconds.
Getting revived by MLT injectors? I'd rather not, especially if I've just been hit by a Sniper.

Agreed, I would also prefer a longer term fix. However I haven't even seen a Dev response indicating they agree that the revival mechanic should be modified. If they don't have time to address the issue now, at least remove the worst offenders (Mil / STD). Absolutely no one is grateful to be revived by a militia injector. |
