I was somewhat surprised that my search didn't provide any posts on this issue.
I am not overly tech savvy, so i cant post a video of this, and it has happened to me in so many varied situations that i cant say there is a 'perfect storm' scenario through which to replicate this.
My observations have been that my in battles where there is persistent lag, or in scenarios where there is a lot activity happening on in a localised area of the map (ie. large numbers of vehicles or infantry interactions) the DAU-2/A Forge gun when being fired will have a delayed release of the projectile (sometimes between 2-4 seconds after the fire animation has completed) and in ever more frequency, the projectile will not fire at all.
IE. i charge the forge gun and i see the charge animation, the animation of the 'kick' of the gun is also seen/felt, but the projectile is not released at the time of the 'kick', as it would have under normal circumstances.
In instances where the projectile is not released at all there is no loss of ammunition, so the system is 'aware' that no shot has actually been fired.
This delayed/non-fire is happening in real time, so the enemy is aware of your attempted shot (it seems you still show up on their radar irrespective of whether the projectile is released), and it in most cases will result in the Forge Gunner missing his/her intended target, and becoming a sitting duck to counter-fire.
If anybody else has experienced this, with the DAU-2/A or any other FG, please state that below. i'd hate to think that i'm the only one this has happened to. |

abarkrishna wrote:This is caused by their hit detection mechanic. Basically what happens is you shoot and the game registers it and displays visual effects on your side however the damage does not get dealt until it reaches their server. So in cases of High latency it can take up to a second to actually deal the damage. This mechanic is different from all other FPS games.
Another effect of this mechanic is that because it registers the damage and displays on the shooters side it gets delayed on the targets side. For example when you are in a fire fight and you duck behind cover but yet still take damge again up to a second after your hidden from their view seeming like you are being shot through a wall.
oh, ok. i understand that. so is this hit detection issue gonna be fixed with the other bug fixes coming in 1.6? |

i'd like to point out that this has not been fixed since the Hit detection fix in 1.6.
CCP please look into this, as though it may not be a widespread problem (not everyone uses the Forge gun) , it is a genuine one. |
