Change the Sight
Actually the Mass driver sight is pretty weird and totally useless. (Nobody aim with an Mass driver)
I think it will look nicer without the Sight and make it more badass more like "Rifle" and less like a... well it looks like nothing ^^' http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120702222924/eve/images/7/7c/Massdriver.jpg
Now imagine that we remove the sight for an cool Iron sight that will make the rail more "straight". I always fought than sight that are at the begins of the rail are ugly.
Different types of ammo
I think it will be "cool" if we can "change" the types of grenade used in battle. We could choose 2 types at the same times (We choose when we fit our Dropsuit) : Deadly and Support Fire. We could change Deadly to Support by selecting the weapon on the selection wheel and then reload the whole Mag.
Deadly : "Breach grenades" => Lot of damage poor radius and RoF. (Breach /Core) "Normal grenades" => (Exo-5 / Freedom) "Light grenades" => Low damage but big radius and RoF. (Assault / Boundless)
Support fire (example) : "Flux grenades" => Not lethal but really effective on Shield vehicules and to destroy ennemies equipements (People in PC know what i mean). "Smoke grenades" => Not lethal but can cover allies AND people in the smoke can't be scanned (smoke that contains little metallic parts) "Detection Grenades" => Not lethal but detect ennemies in a 2meters radius of the impact for 1 seconds.
Level of Support grenades that can be used is issued by the level of the Mass Driver (STD / ADV / PRO). At the market we choose the mass driver we wants (The deadly part) and then the grenade we want as a support in the "grenade" slot. (Or in an special slot if a "Grenadier" dropsuit is created). (But it needs new types of grenades)
Ammo for "deadly" will be 3/4 of the actual ammo pool. Ammo for the support fire will be the 1/4 left.
Like that Mass driver could be more a "Support" weapon and less a "spam weapon" but still useful as a "Combat weapon". Because with the last "Armor" boost Mass driver is less useful and in lot of cases 6 in a Mag is not enough to kill now. And his DPS is really low (220-250 in direct hits and 120 in radius shot and direct hits are pretty hard to do it succeful). I think it should be more useful than now but not more powerful as a kill weapon but more useful as a support weapon.

You clearly don't use MDs at long range, the ADS on those things needs to stay put

I was talknig of the sight ON the weapon. There's the same ADS when you don't aim so why aiming ? |

Yes they have (But we don't know why ) You're right.
But....This time i will remove the "sight idea" because people don't actually read the second idea which is the principal idea in fact. |

I main MD and I can honestly say I never use the sight so if it went I probably wouldn't notice. The different types of ammo idea is a good one and I would back it but until other weapons get attachments and all that it would just bring the nerf hammer of doom down on us again as we would be far too versatile. Eventually when we get weapon attachments and things I would like it to be a case of you could choose what ammo you carry and in what amounts, something like MD with 6 shots 1st shot is a Flux shot next 5 are normal but that would be very OP lol.
TEST signature please help me think of a better one.

Way back in the day when I used to have Mass Driver Proficiency I would use the sight to better land rounds on pesky snipers. The markings on it can be used to visually mark reference points when you have to duck into cover to avoid being sniped. The vast majority of the time it is useless.
I think I wrote up a suggestion for selected ammo types back then as well. There is a lot they could do with the MD but it involves work and they need to finish the racial lineup first.
I recently started using the MD again. It really suffers against the current version of the AR but has its uses. I'll mainly use it on a variant of my Logistics suit when in a supporting role but the rest of the time I'll be carrying SMG or a Combat Rifle when it is available. |

No to change type of weapon you must reload (yes this will be OP if not).
I don't aim but in fact when we don't aim the sight takes a lot of place in the screen and is useless. Because of this we have a big dead angle.
Yes when we will have weapon attachements it's actually the only attachement that is possible in the Mass Driver. |

The sight is much better than what we had in beta by a longshot. If you haven't been using it, shame in you- it's the only thing that makes the breach viable.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

You just have to compare target height to the distance between markings and adjust accordingly, I use it for anything beyond 20 meters or so.

If you had open your eyes guys you'll see that without aiming you have the SAME sight. So why aiming (takes times and reduce strafe and jump) while you can do the same and even better wiithout ?
I don't see the point to aim when you can do better without. Beyond 20 meters you have a better view and can see around you while you're shooting if you don't aim. Before 20 meters you're faster can dodge bullets and throw grenades while strafing and shoot AND stay on the target.
I'll say it's to you to become good because as i see you lose time and don't optimize your gameplay as it's maximum.
If you were using Mass driver since a long time you'll see that you don't even need sight because you already know where the impact will be if you aim higher or not even in jump while strafing or not.
Whatever i respect your opinion and i didn't realize that some people actually use the sight. I'm sorry and because it will be unfair to get away the sight while you using it forget my idea on the sight.
(My second idea about diff+¬rant ammo is still good and should be on every weapon in fact.) |
