I've used the shotgun before, loved it, been hit by it, hated it, got friends who use it exclusively and others who are targets, I think all of them would agree with this proposal. First of all a personal request, remove aim assist's effect on the shotgun, it just screws with the partial hit detection way too much and makes it more inconsistent than it already is, but mainly I think the range should be increased and the damage decreased slightly, give it more of a steady dropoff than an effective range threshold.
At grabbing distance the shotgun should do massive damage but that doesn't mean that at 15m it should be ineffective or unreliable. I don't know if this kind of system is already in place but it sure as hell doesn't feel like it, even before 1.4 when I fired the shotgun it felt like luck was guiding my plasma pellets at such ranges. I would just sure as hell hate to see it nerfed just because sometimes it can pull off ridiculous stunts and some people get annoyed about that.

ok first off i seen shotguns killing people between 20 to 30 metres out secondly i agree damage on shotguns should be decreased specially becuase milita shotguns and standard shotguns can kill someone with up to 800 to 1000 health within 2 shots |

Here's the problem, those people probably had operation 5 and high proficiency, and I don't like the fact that there's weapons that are basically non-functional until you skill them up, again I'm well aware of the stories, hell I've killed people at very long range with a shotgun but how often do you use the thing? I've shot people standing still at that same range and barely did anything, I've shot people from 5m while standing still and barely did anything, the gun is just plain inconsistent and if someone gets killed at that range with a shotgun a couple times then it's just bad luck or the skill levels doing all the work and nothing worth bringing to the table.
As for damage, at very close range it SHOULD kill a suit with that much hp in 2 or 3 hits...because its a shotgun, a shotgun which fires superheated gas, I don't feel bad for anyone that gets killed with a shotgun at point blank range. |
