ISK Doublers/Triplers
- Met a couple ISK triplers and gave them 50k of my ISK.
- If they ran with it, I was scammed by lowrollers. Really low rollers.
- If they didn't, I invested the profits. Kept investing like this in small pieces with no risk until 500k-1m profit had been achieved and left, thanking them. Slowly increasing deposits usually work, even on scammers, as they hope to pull you in for a bigger deposit. It was important to stop after making a little bit.
Players asking for ISK: Psychology and Luck
- Met a few players asking for money.
- Acted like an idiot, maybe a little crass, but with a big heart.
- Gave them 200k ISK to start.
- If they fled, no good. Tried again.
- If they stayed, asked what they wanted it for.
- If they said Skill Books or something else believable, asked how much they need for the skills they want. Made sure the amount was reasonable and relatively accurate.
- Accused player of scams.
- If they tried way too hard to convince me they were legit or just continued asking for cash, I left.
- If they seemed offended or told me they'd try someplace else, I gave them the money.
- If I reached this point, which I did a few times, it was either someone who seemed like they honestly needed the ISK or was testing me. "Testers" deposited money in my wallet for my "good deed."
Well, I've had varying degrees of luck with doublers and triplers. Some are honest and pay out what they can. Some are scammers and will take your ISK. As long as more than one in ten you meet is honest, you will turn a profit with this strategy. By investing in chunks with profits only, you negate all risk except the initial 50k ISK, which is worth nothing. The small amounts make you seem like a newer player with little ISK. These can be pretty mean if the player is really trying to help new players and you already have a ton of ISK, but it's not a lot of ISK. I've made a few million off doublers and triplers in local chat. Never give more than your previous profits from the same player.
As for the other method, I hit the jackpot today. Tonight, right before down time, I went through this rigmarole with a player in local. After accusing the player of trying to tempt me by using a female name, they said I was rude, that they were female, and were going to leave. I deposited the 800k ISK into their account and told them they were "probably" honest. They told me to check my wallet. What do you know, over 10 million ISK had been deposited into my account, and they were a guy with 260 million ISK.
I felt kind of bad doing this. A minute before the 10+ million was wired, I sent out a message to my corporation's chat channel (to the one player awake that had just started talking to me). "Wait. I'm negotiating a million ISK deal." I supposed I couldn't find better words for it than "negotiating" and "deal." Very little negotiation took place. It was no deal for the other side. 10 million ISK is a happy sum, though, and the guy said he had over 260 million, so it's not like I robbed him blind by making him think I was a naive nice guy trying to help newberries.
So, yeah. That's been my handful of adventures in pseudo-metagaming. Thoughts? |

I created a 200 milion ISK fund for aspiring, new vehicle players.
I restocked said fund with another 200 million ISK after it was empty.
Now it is empty again and I did check where the money went.
Over 2/3 went into Dropships.

Not sure how I feels. Seems somewhat scumbag tbh, but on the other hand GG for hustling. Incase you were unaware though ISK is pointless and will be even more so when ISK transfers from EvE come in. Unless you want to buy my Gurista Saga BPO

The triplers and doublers were easy enough to make money off of. I didn't really make any money until that last guy asking for ISK, so I did put "Luck" in there. Definitely a lot of luck. |

There is no investment mechanism in DUST, so these doublers can't be using your "seed money" to create more.
It's all a scam.
The only way to make money "investing" with them is to run away with their early "returns" as the OP did. |
