1) Get in touch with Lightning xVx. Apply to R 0 N 1 N. Anything V says overrides my advice.
2) Avoid shortcuts. Take the scenic route around your opponents; always approach from behind.
3) Avoid heroics. When possible, single out and stalk stragglers. Engage hostiles one at a time.
4) Beware the Flare. Your shotgun will misfire. Because CCP. Carry a reliable sidearm at all times.
5) Beware the Bluedot. You'll beat hostile scanners; they will not. Distance yourself when possible.
6) Be discreet. Don't let your enemy see you have a Shotgun until you're in range and ready to use it.
7) Scan. Get an Adv Scanner. Assess risk factors and enemy positions/orientation prior to attack.
8) Lure. Everyone chases the little Scout. Bait them around a corner, wait, blast face.
9) Nades. If you're target is fat or wearing black, open up your surprise attack with a nicely cooked Nade.
10) Practice. The Breach Shotgun is a poor weapon, but an excellent training tool. Warm up with one.
Final Thought:
Stealth is your best friend, Scout Brothers. Skill into your Racial Suit early for its passive Stealth Bonus. |

+1 for shotguns. I really need to follow #3 more. I am still used to running a medium dreams with a shotgun. Also #4 is the bane of my current existence in Dust. I think I have died more due to that these past few days than anything else. But when the shotgun is on it is sooooo rewarding and such a fun weapon to use. |

I hear ya. O ain't on a lot either. Maybe I'll get ony scout and u can teach me. Lol. I loved the SG in chrome...when it works. O always carried it on my "pilot" suit. |

Good tips, +1 from me.
And as a small addition to #8, luring works especially well with remote explosives. If you can make sure the enemy doesn't notice them, you can catch multiple enemies at once, and make sure they can't be revived.

Solid advice.
The transition to disadvantaged light frame suit, with powerful (but still unreliable) weapon will be much easier for new folks if they take some of this advice to heart.
To all that give the scout/shotgun a try, have fun, and remember to be sneaky in all things (notice how many of these points factor in deception or creative, bastardly tactics!)
Also - good addition in #11, as well! Having 2 scouts in a squad is 1000 times better than just one. |
