So tell me is there any thing to skill into or invest into the Active 'scanners' or are they DUST speak for wallhacks, no mean to rant here but they have become a NECESSITY.
This is the problem with most of fittings in this game; you either use 'That one Fit' or GTFO state of mind really ruins one of the reasons why I love Dust and Eve alike ability to customize, prepare and build accordingly to your playstyle but in Dust there are a few REAL fittings and the rest are placeholders
Do we have to run scouts with damps to avoid those things?
Please prove me wrong. (Rant not intended)

Run damps.
They're there for a reason.
You cant expect to be able to counter something without the right skills or equipment. |

In fairness he has a point, scouts should be able to avoid some scanning without having to sacrifice there slots
scout with dampeners v medium AR , no amount of sneaking saves that scout when the AR hits him |

Scout here, can confirm. Not being able to dodge proto w/o sacrificing speed/endurance SUCKS.

Yeah Run Damps that's ingenious then you'll get killed by an AR in 0.5 seconds instead of 1.5seconds.. CCP has made this game a cookie cutter shooter like he said you either run a suit that everyone else is or you get destroyed in matter of seconds I feel bad for scouts, assualts logis and heavies are the only ones who stand a chance nowadays. ... |

Scouts should have two equipment slots. You should be able to place a dampner in your equipment slot, high slot, or low slot. Should be this way with all equipment. Why should you be forced to put equipment in only one area, it should be up to the player. The number of slots should make the suit, not were the equipment can be placed. |

Well you can carry an active scanner but then you won't be able to refill your own ammo or drop uplinks. Those are pretty useful things and that's your sacrifice.
The problem comes in with logis who can carry an acrive scanner as well as other equipment at the same time as being able to tank to the hilt and still carry a deadly at all ranges rifle. There's also the fact that only 3 people on a team (fully squaded) need to carry a scanner.
The crux of the issue is that scanners are extremely useful, perhaps more so than any other equipment, yet their fittings costs do not seem to be comparatively high.

I don't want to hear about it just being scouts, its everybody. I spent 1m SP on my proto Assault suit to only avoid basic scanners wtf!?!
Just another reason the Logi is better than the Assault. |

Scouts need some love, and they do for quite some time, that is a legitimate problem.
Scanners overall are however a HTFU issue, something you can adapt to.
Also, when did they become a nessesity to carry by all players in a match? 2 scanners per team are enough to keep the frontline and the flanks covered. |

If you have a lvl 4 scout suit and lvl profile damping skill 1 you should be able to by pass advance scanners, if you want to get passed proto you need to use modules that is fair. |

Not everyone has to carry a scanner, but everyone has to damp. I believe the complaint is that scouts nw have a dampner tax that reduces their effective slot count. |

You only need one scanner er squad, but everyone needs to dampen their profile or get lit up by the enemy scanner.
It's not a big deal if you don't mind running around with a red "Shoot Me" arrow over your head, but most scouts would rather not.
As a class they pretty much have to dedicate a slot to a dampener now, and that reduces their low slot count by one as a class. |

A scout with full skill into the skills that give him damps (the 3 after engineering i beleive) makes it where he can avoid everything passivly except a proto scanner. Not many people use the proto scanners that can pickup scouts like this because they have a short duration. |

Run dampeners...
...is what I'd say if I didn't think about it first. Either the guy runs a scanner and negates your tactics, or you run dampeners and negate your armor for everyone, including the guy with the scanner. Great options. Run a scanner, see everyone through walls and halve the armor of anyone you can't see, while still pinpointing them due to the "OMGFBBQ LARGE MARGIN OF ERROR! WARNING! GUY WITHIN 100m OF YOU IN A 30 DEGREE CONE WEARING DAMPENERS!" warning.
I run scanners. Your dampeners are hilariously ineffective unless you're a Scout, in which case you're sacrificing substantial run speed by running dampeners, which, again, makes you easier for me to kill. |

This used to be the case but now the logis are getting wise to the scouts and there is a proto scanner in at least 1/2 of pub matches these days and 100% of PC matches. PC I can deal with because I can comfortably run proto suits and still make a profit but pub matches, hells no - which means I have to dedicate half my low slots on my advanced suit just to be able to stay stealthy, which is literally my only advantage! |
