find a good logi. as an ex heavy and a current logi. I have found that a heavy running by itself can kill half a squad but when the rest of the squad shows up for the second attack your low on health and now dead. a heavy needs logi support. and that's my tip for staying alive.

try other weapons and suits. A heavy is something that takes dedication and currently is not balanced so you will find that when you are a proto heavy using a proto HMG a DUVOLLE AR will out DPS you in real dps not on paper. ry everything before you go into the heavy line. If you are the type of player that want tobe the best, then try going for AR (but not yet because soon there will be new rifles coming out )

If you crouch, your HMG will become much more accurate.
It's best not to do this directly under fire though unless you have a logibro.

 Love your logibros.

This is very true. I find it's effective to start firing while moving forwards, then crouch once you have a good position on a choke point. You can flatline over half a squad. Problems arise when you can't rep fast enough, and as a heavy retreat is just not viable 9/10 times. If you see them coming though Flux Gr as an opener before you open up with the HMG will help in dropping people.

Just check out Bears Beets guide to being a heavy. It's probably the best one out there by far. Covers pretty much everything you need to know. Even fits and skills in order of training.

Listen to me man this my alt acct but i have my other one on break now and im in the raining heavy's corp.

I was a new player 3 months ago and been through more then most of the people that have played for years , I'll suggest to you only be a heavy if your a real gamer same goes for logi and snipers .

What you need to do as a new heavy :

 1. Always have cars , because we heavy's are to slow to walk unless you want to try and be a speedy heavy but id suggest armor up.

 2. Build up the skills that let you buy Enhanced Armor plates , And Enhanced Heavy arms module . The MH 8 is the first best hmg you can get its a A1 weapon when you get to prototype the freedom is the best both of these are great for long range you will get hammed if you try to use the six kin burst or that other one in the A1 section just because of power.

 3. The suits are nice but from A! to Proto dropsuits they dont change as far as shield and armor it stays 405 405 .

 4. Try and stay close to cover aim for there hips then pane up when firing .

 5. No matter what you be or class you play as The Assualt rifles will always drop you hella fast they are over powerd and very well may always be over powered .

 6. With that said heavys make them coward punk a.s.s AR's users sh.it when they see us , some try and be brave but they get mowed down with all there hacked up sh.it i love when i drop them lil brave ones with my Freedom HMG !!!

 MUHAHAHAHAAH RAWWWWWR AHHHHH

im giving away top much info wtf

Or you could follow this guide https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1323403 like everybody else does and get dropped by me like they do im talking heavy vs heavy and i didn't even build up my heavy's core dropsuit shields to the max yet just wait . can someone say invincibility .

ive never seen that guide before but its not good to me , and keep in mind that the best of the best never tells all the only people that tells all are the ones seeking approval .

Confirming that Bears Beets's guide is great stuff.

I object the atrocities he commits against the English language, but Blaq's advice further up in the thread isn't bad either. One point, though:

Alphaman Blaq wrote:4. Try and stay close to cover aim for there hips then pane up when firing.
Way too many heavies aim for body shots. Instead, you should aim for the spot between the shoulders and neck of your target. Kick will bring the barrel up to headshots, without losing too much damage to missed shots around the head.

Follow that tip, and you'll be able to 1v1 HMG heavies with much better equipment than you, and you'll be killing proto assaults at close range as well.
