For discussion rather than feedback.
In DUST 514, a weapon is one of the most important pieces of equipment a mercenary can have at their disposal, and surely because of that, shouldn't the ability to adjust and modify be available to us all?
DUST offers an interesting way for the modifying our fits/dropsuits, it's quite simple to adjust your fits and it has all the information there when you're changing it, if the system was the same for the weapons, with different slots for different things, a Scope slot, Skin slot, Underbarrel slot and then highs and low slots for further adjustment with things such as Damage Modifiers, Clip extension, additional ammo capacity (total), reload speed modifiers, all with drawbacks to using them.

Improving your weapons should be thought about, each modification offering a bonus and a penalty, not only this but you should also have to think about the PG/CPU requirements and on that topic I'd like to talk about that.
Weapons currently have PG/CPU requirements so if this was implemented we must look at how modifications can be limited rather than using the best type on all the weapons, so here's my two ideas about how it can be achieved, personally I prefer B.
Weapon CPU/PG System A wrote: Weapons have the same PG/CPU as a modified weapon when fitting, weapons have their own inside requirements for modifications that have no effect on dropsuit fitting
Weapon CPU/PG System B wrote: Weapons have a default amount of CPU/PG that changes when modified, so an Assault Rifle could cost 30 CPU and 3 PG to fit, but a modified Assault Rifle could cost 60 CPU and 6 PG to fit. This means there is no limit to the kind of weapon your want to create (except the slot limitations of course) but if you cannot attach it to your suit, you better lose something
Thoughts?

^_^ More customization = More depth and even ways for CCP to make more money (Gold Assault Rifle plz.)
And B? Seems to make a lot more sense :D

Weapon mods seems to be on CCP's horizon, if the recent survey is any indication.
I always assumed they'd handle it like rigs are handled in EVE... suits/weapons would get calibration points, and you could fit a mix of alterations until your calibration points were full.
Each "rig" would have its own set of bonuses and drawbacks that affected different stats. And higher-tech suits/weapons would have fewer calibration points than more basic gear.
But I dig your ideas, too. Who knows how it will be implemented... but I think it if we stick around long enough, it'll very likely be in game. |

The sound of customization rings again.
TBH, even if they made more weapon customization modules, I'd be fine.
Paint and the like I am not concerned about. It's being able to make a breach or RR shoot even faster.
Or reducing the charge/spool up time on a RR or ScR.
There's tons of stuff that can be done with weapon mods, even without making a weapon it's own seperate fitting entity. |
