Just in case you have it seen it already, here it is.And here's an interivew from a little bit later on.
Anyway, the guy who was doing the lecture was a marketing guy and was very afraid of making any kinds of promises (it's all up in the air, it would seem) and so he really just danced around topics a lot. I'd like someone what the hell is going on. I've interpreted a little bit, but I'm not actually sure what's right and what's wrong with my analysis because I'm really tired.
1.) Valkyrie is definitely going to be a part of the EVE universe in a similar way to Dust (or the way Dust was envisioned with resource trading and interaction and all that) but as they're working on making damned sure that they hammer out the gameplay first, it might just end up in a similar situation to Dust, having good or decent core gameplay (I'm fairly sure we wouldn't be able to tell since THUKKING HELL we're going to be flying goddamned spaceships in 3-D space as if they're actual goddamned fighters and stuff) and a big question mark on how it'll actually relate to the larger EVE universe.
2.) Hey, you get cool skins for your things when you buy the collector's edition!
3.) ???????
4.) Profit? |

Valkyrie will connect to the New Eden universe in someway - FW is probably the low hanging fruit here. However, CCP wants to get the core right before really pushing the interconnectivity stuff.
CCP wants to do something along the lines of letting you use the same character in EVE, Dust and Valk, but this is still maybeTM (worse then soonTM).
Anything asides from the basic gameplay stuff (space fighter awesomeness) hasn't been completely nailed down yet courtesy of the fact that it's only officially been a game (rather than the interesting tech demo shown at fanfest) for a few months. I mean they haven't even confirmed oculas rift compatibility yet. |

Thanks. This is pretty much what I've been looking for.
Although I might say that on the last point you had -- that official Oculus Rift compatibility hasn't yet been confirmed -- that it's probably going to happen. I mean, they started the project with it, and they apparently got a new, HD version of it. Oculus Rift has been a part (I'd say a vital one, but honestly, I don't know how much CCP has developed around it) of the process for the entire development.
But erm, yeah. I hope that they'll have learned from their mistakes from Dust and will be able to make their game fun and connected to EVE. |
