does the range, sighting in get better when leveling up and at what level. Sure, better, niftier weapons, but, I all boils down to what you can see... I searched, did not come up with anything, info, spread sheet, etc. |

They only get a little better and the curve severely reduces past the NT-511 . Thale's are the only SR with ridiculously good zoom and damage. |

As you level up Sniper rifle op, the sway when you first ADS decreases. But aside from that, you just get better versions and different variants.
Normal Tactical - 3 bullet clip, high rate of fire, lower damage, more zoom, and a slightly larger ammo pool Charge - proto rifle that has less zoom but can be charged for 300 something damage (haven't used it in a while and can't remember) Thales - officer weapon that has high damage and high zoom
Edit: Honestly, Sniping is a very lackluster career path at the moment. |

Totally worth it to ruin towercampers days, but I would use it as a supplement not as a main career. |

Dont know what you mean by "sighting" or "what you can see", I assume you mean zoom and damage range. Sniper rifle's range is one of the longest in the game, I dont think I ever had a situation where I did less than max damage because my target was too far. If anything, you'll run into rendering issues long before your sniper gets out ranged. in terms of zoom, tactical has increased zoom over the default sniper but thats about it, not sure about the charged variant yet.
They all have that god awful screen focus blur that serves no purpose whatsover other than to limit your vision. |

I seem to not be able to find snipers half the time.
Now that I specced into sniper rifles I can't seem to find anywhere good to snipe... maybe it's just the maps I've been on.
Got SR prof 2, can't wait to fail using my Thale and get counter-sniped by a MLT SR |

It's not too bad however right now the biggest problem is rendering and you magically have people disappear off your screen and are trying to shoot at invisible targets altho on the + side you can see people through walls so can line up shots for when they move out of cover, for along time snipers have asked for an extra zoom function but sadly it doesn;t seem to be something CCP are that bothered about .. it's another Soon TM .... if you can;t work with the current scope then it may be best to go down another route or roll in militia for the time being and save up your SP .. pretty boring I know but sadly DUST doesn;t really give you many options lol
PS do not use scout suits for a sniper, barely any slots CPU PG and next to nothing HP go for a logi suit |

I hear ya. I do fine with the scope, just feeling out what is to come if I invest into. Might have to start investing in SMG for side arm, knives are fun, but I get hammered more than kills with I would do a logi suit (and want to), but, the stealth, speed, assassin side of me leans to the scout. |

Put your thale on an HP maxed Sentinel, works like a charm, never lose them.
I'm a big fan of HP sniper suits though, shield extenders over damage mods... Getting a couple more kills a map due to damage mods is not worth the trade-off of not taking counter fire *shrugs* To each their own though. |

Some maps are better for the stereotypical sniping, however I enjoy the challenge of finding a good location on all maps. Sometimes height is not the sole consideration. Staying at the fringes of a firefight and taking out people or damaging them while they focus on a squad can also be helpful. |

Fully invested sniper here.
If you plan on dedicating into full sniper it's worth it.
You'll need proficiency 3+ and 3 complex damage mods.
At adv and proto level the only two SR variants to consider are the charge and the tactical as the normal variant is garbage to say the least.
The charge is nice with its massive damage but the decreased zoom is really a hindrance. The tactical is reall the way to go. The ability to do one or two quick follow up shots really allows you to out damage even the charge. That plus the massively increased zoom truly make it the weapon of choice. But make sure to have as many nano hives as you can fit. You will burn through plenty of ammo.
Also, in the case of sniping, a mouse and keyboard really and truly helps.
Happy hunting :) |

Much to my surprise sniper rifles are really good in situations were the enemies are less than 100 m and you are around your team. (choke/trench combat) |

I disagree in that tacticals are better than default. Both have their pros and cons. Missing with even a single bullet with the tactical means the person would get away by the time you reload your next round. The best pro about tacticals is the RoF and that you can land several headshots before the person even gets a chance to react, very effective on taking out stationary targets like campers and snipers. The default sniper has more raw power and the 2 extra rounds means you could drop 2 people in one mag as opposed to tactical's 1 1/2. The charge rifle is certainly a beast on it's own, but you need to make every shot count or you're looking at one of the slowest kills out of all the sniper rifles.. |

The recoil alone on the basic variant kills it for me and the difference in damage between it and the tactical may seem massive on paper, but in application on the battlefield you will notice that that based on the majority of peoples ehp it will take the same number of shots to down someone. The increased scope zoom also makes raises the targets hit profile massively. Instead of aiming at someone that's only a few pixels wide you instead can see the entirety of their model. The tacticals near complete lack of recoil allows for quicker follow up shots even more than its rate of fire. The two together make for a potent combination. |

Don't use the Charged. It sounds like a freaking vacuum cleaner and is loud as hell. The first time I heard my dad using the thing I thought the PS3 was about to explode. |
