Ok so I might get a lot of SMHs here, but I'm what most people like to call. flat out broke. I usually have trouble reaching over 4 Million sometimes, and I realized something.
And the way my stuff is set up, If lose at least six suits, then I have no choice but to use starter fits for the rest of the round, otherwise the payout won't be enough to cover my losses. And I'm sure tankers also know this.
No matter what (unless we are in PC) the payout will almost never be able to make it slightly worth bringing out good gear, as a total of 280,000 ISK wont cover something worth 400k or 1M
So
What if we reflected ISK payments based on the cost of gear you've lost in battle, that way tanks and other things would become profitable.
But, we could also implement a better win/loss payout to where if you win, then you get at least a 200k profit, along with a 90% reimbursement of the gear that was lost on the battlefield. And if you lose, then you get a 100k profit, along with a 75% reimbursement of gear lost on the battlefield.
DISCLAIMER:
I was pretty tired when I wrote this, so I'm gonna edit this and tweak the numbers later when I feel like doing actual math and stuff. |

That would mean everyone can run adv/proto in every match because death wont hurt their bankroll very much. If I kill an expensive suit, then I want it to hurt. I think there is already too much isk floating around. I'd be more in favor of lowering isk payouts with no refunds. |

Another one of these request?
"If people are hesitating to field gear because they're afraid to lose it then this game is working as intended. It's a unique feature of this game that sets it apart from other lobby shooters."

I still stand by the philosophy that -- "Standard Battles should be fought with Standard Equipment" and believe that ISK payouts are generally in a good place right now, it's more that people like to play outside their means, at least in random battles. So I will disagree with you, ISK rewards should not scale with the equipment you use, you should just use less expensive gear.
I'm a vehicle guy so I have less than a million SP invested in my dropsuits, but I do quite well in random matches even with basic level gear. I think using lower level gear is the best way to play because instead of your gear growing, you as a player grow to overcome disadvantages. But that's all down to personal philosophy I suppose.
As for vehicles however, I think they're way too expensive given their surviveability. I have quite a bit of ISK but that's because i DON'T use vehicles in random matches...way too expensive and not worth the reward for the risk involved. |

Last evening in one of the games I went 16/3 and took two(2) tanks down in that same match ( av grenades in city ). Payout was around 300k.
I Was expecting more.. just for the two tanks.
I made profit, would have liked to make more. |

You're not supposed to be running higher level gear in pubs. At least not if you're planning on being profitable. Don't use it if you're not prepared to lose it. Lower level gear becomes meaningless if there's no incentive to run it. |

I just want to know the mystical forumla for payout calculation. Seems to be akin to a slot machine at the moment. 24 kills, 9 of them Proto suits, 11 assists, 3 deaths, took 6 objectives, revived 8 team mates lets see what we got.............132k??!! What the ****??!! |

Kirk, I really didn't want to offer because it would be a huge hassle for me, but if you really need some help, I guess I could take some of that ISK off your hands. |

Gotta find that fine line between "not running what you can't afford to lose" and "losing because you can't afford what you run".
There are so many factors:
-Pubstomping squads on one side -Uplinks in better positions for survivability -Grenade spam annihilating your ultra expensive suit without any way to stop it -Sniped in an expensive suit -Ganked by 5-6 reds because your team suddenly disappeared
And dozens more situations where you could lose something in the battlefield, forcing you to run what you can afford to lose in the unpredictability but crippling your ability to carry or effectively support your team.
I think it's better that ISK is so valuable, though. If people are always worrying about their ISK, slowly SP should take the back seat in terms of importance, and that's better for DUST as a whole because we're mercenaries not SP-grinders. |
