I recently realized how awesome a weapon shotguns are. I was thinking about using them with a medium frame, would that be cool? I see the majority of scouts using shotguns, but I don't like being paper thin. Also I'll make milk and cookies for anyone that can give me pointers on how to better use the Shotgun. |

I would recommend a Minmatar assault with stacked shield extenders, maybe a couple damage mods, and a cardiac regulator and/or kinetic catalyzer in the low slots.
That gets you moving almost as quick as a scout, with a LOT more HP and possibly more damage.
I am an inexperienced shotgunner though, so this is just theorycraft. |

For a while at the beginning of Uprising I remember I used to absolutely hate seeing Caldari assault shotgunners. Haven't put much thought into it, but that seems to be good if you can get a high shield recharge rate. |

Havent really invested in scouts yet, doing just fine with shotguns on a med frame. Just pick your engagements carefully, if they're already in full retreat, use something else like SMG to finish them off. Make them come to you. |

I am also considering just using an assault rifle like I always have but I've heard rumors of a possible nerf and getting kills with a Shotgun is WAY more satisfying. |

Here your first like just because.
BTW use a mid range sidearm like the ASSAULT SMG or Scrambler pistols to cover more engagement situations. You usually want to get close to use the shotty, but doesnt mean you will always be able to. |

Those are two modules which you need. Also use a quantum active scanner (Advanced one keeps targets up for 10 seconds I believe. This variant is only at advanced and proto level though so it'll take a bit of sp). If you see a heavy then kill him. Heavies are easy targets but don't just go head to head unless your good otherwise you'll get an HMG to the face which isn't too pretty. Also skill into profile dampening skills (The passive bonus is good plus if you ever get scanned you can just put on a dampener or two on and you won't get scanned unless it's a prototype active scanner). Also stay away from installations unless you're planning on hacking it. Installations put you on the radar no matter how high you dampening skills are. Oh and keep on scanning and watch out if you see that the scanner didn't pick up everybody (If you scan everybody successfully it'll say NO MARGIN OF ERROR while if someone doesn't get scanned then it'll say SOME MARGIN OF ERROR. This can also be used to find the general location of the person who you're looking for who you can't scan). Also use a sidearm. I personally enjoy the Assault Sub Machine Gun the most.
Now I'm not the greatest shotgunner in the world so keep that in mind when taking tips from me :) |

1. Aim at a merc on your team, look at the efficiency % at the bottom an memorize the distance of 70% an closer 2. You want to have speed between 8-9 3. Shotgunning requires style, it's taken a long time for me to hold my own with it, it requires commitment, I mean if you shoot someone an they turn an have more HP that you expected you have to keep chasing an closing the gap, if their faster your dead. 4. Choose your fits depending on a map that fits the style for those maps. For ex Open maps- tons of shields, greens and reds. City maps damage mods profile dampeners a armor rep an a scanner 5. Smg is a great sidearm especially in proficiency levels 6. If you use a logi, I think is better ,I'm going min logi adv for a beefy scout play cuz I'm really dirty with grenades an remotes. I'm a scout shotguner an knifer but I love bombs so that's why I want a logi but I ll miss my side arm. Proto min assault is fast, gallente is slower an caldari I find are very tough to drop.
So go for your style. Are you sneaky or are you fast an aggressive?
I suggest getting a level one gallente scout for 12 000 sp , use militia profile dampeners, an green an red an armor rep combinations . All militia mods
Once you figure out your style in a week suit your gonna know how an where to put points to support your style that way all you waste is minimal isk an sp, an if your gonna be a med frame shotguner, training in a weak suit will make you a beast in a suit that can take a beating.
I have been proto minja for a while, then I went to ad gallente for the low slots an I been slowly skilling minmatar med frames for a shotguner an left the suit at ad basic so I could decide on speed min assault an have the sidearm an 2 lows or go speed hacking logi with nades an bombs as my backup. It took months of tryin both scouts to decide that I wanted more equipment an a equal amount of highs an lows so I can damp or have speed since it compliment s all the skills I have as a scout so logi is my choice.
I have all my biotics at five an electronic skills almost at five so in a month I ll have a serious med frame. Hope the advice helps |

Oh sg is good at basic but mines proficiency 4 an shoots really fast, the proficiency isn't for damage it's rof so you can constantly shoot faster which means the encounter is over quicker so if you do use a logi you don't need to rely on a side arm |

No. Too slow. What suit are you now? Contact me when the market opens I have a ton of dragonfly scout bpos if we're able to trade them if you need. I'd go caldari probably is your best bet, only 4 slot logies can beat proto 15 db scanners if that's a future concern , an g scout. I take it your somewhat new an don't have many points. So think about what your gonna need for your style, an aim for that first. Speed aggressive or sneaky an have good vision? Most importantly get complex cardiac regs, med suits have $hit stamina an rely on shied regs to get shields back fast, so even if your slow an wanted a amar logi for the sidearm make sure you have endurance an your shields come fast.
Minmatar assault is kinda squishy but fast but it an the min logi have passive armor regen an at faster than most suits. Compare slots an pg CPU an roughly figure out what suit can handle the mods you need |

I've been experimenting (and having some success!) on my alt with a Sentinel Shotty as a breacher/battering ram in Skirms & Doms with interior objectives. Plates in the lows, Damage in the High, barrel into a packed room with your squad right behind you and you can often clear out three or four if you're quick and create a significant opening for your team. Should be even better once I get the Advanced suit and into SG Proficiency. You have to have your squad supporting, though, or it's kinda pointless (though still reasonably entertaining). |
