No you are not!
I had similar problems during the event. Since one of our guys (Amarr Character) was often in charge of the first squad going, I had to stay out of said squad and used the squad finder to find Minmatar squads.
Later in the event I lead squads of corpmates into Minmatar FW and we won quite a few matches. In the end I got all the Minmatar rewards. But when the event started I was quite disappointed to be left without a possibility to squad up in corp...
You are definitely right, it will be difficult to have factional warfare in corp. What I don't like about this, is that you find friends in the game, and you are forced to not play with them because of a random decision you made when creating your character, or because of the decision you made while skilling in you character. This is just not cool.
I like roleplaying a lot, but to dump friends just because they selected a different race is utter nonsense. And it promotes racism...
That said, I think one of the biggest downfalls of the new FW system is the rewards! First of all, I think when you fight for a faction, you should gain idealistic values first and foremost! So no gear or anything just a basic payout (in isk) and LP, that give you only idealistic rewards, like skins for your dropsuits badges and titles... like in real life, nothing but honor.
For a certain factional standing, you should be able to buy in a factional store with isk. These items should be ridicoulously expensive at the start, and get cheaper with higher standing towards the faction. So if you have a high standing, you can make a good profit by selling them, and if your standing is low, it's barely worth buying them. If your standing is negative you will not be able to buy them at all. They should also be locked to factional standing. Meaning, if you have a bad standing with the Minmatar, you should have a penalty using their weapons. So that they are more of a reward for loyalty... It should be a privilige to be able to use them.
Before this can even be thought about, there MUST be the rest of all the factional gear in the game AND the MARKET!
PLEASE CCP DO NOT GIVE US NEW FW BEFORE YOU GIVE US ALL THE GEAR AND THE MARKET!
Cheers

This conflicting loytails is a big part of new eden. Ccp is not forcing your hand ur friends are. So time to make more friends on the side u want to fight for I know that I could fight for the Lazorboys, but I probably won't...
I deleted 2-3 characters when I started this game, just because I finally found out what race i wanted to play. It is however fact, that many players do not really get any of the background when they create their character. CCP really sucks when it comes to new player experience and explaining how races and lore work in EVE. This is one of the biggest downfalls in the new player experience... The other is, that it basically doesn't matter at all what race you are, since it has no consequences whatsoever... Meaning you choose a label and it has no effect. So why have any lables at all? Why don't we start as Humans, and then work our way into the factions by our actions. That would make more sense in my opinion. (I know, CCP won't change that ever, but it's really bad design in my opinion)...
Still, I think there will be problems from this. I have whitnessed people leaving the game because they do not like all that pollitical bs going on in the game. I'm personally a little bit on the edge, if I want to play a game that lives from the personal issues people have with each other than from content.
Usually you play for recreational purposes and not because you want the same bs you have in real life in a game...
If you have a real life that is... |

Jade Dragonis wrote:Easy solution. Fight with your corp in amarr fw. Collect lp and get amarr weapons and such. Sell them and the isk then goes to your min gear.
No it is not, because I'm coming from a roleplaying background, and I want meaningful decisions in a game.
Just giving crap about who I fight for, is not in my mindset. So I either fight for my corp (this is what most military units forges together) or I fight for a cause.
If the corp is fighting for a cause I can not agree upon, I have to move somewhere else.
If I loose friends I have found on the way by doing so, than I might not enjoy the game anymore, and go somewhere else...
If that is what CCP wants, then fine... |

Acturus Galaxy wrote:Weird, you just said that you did not give a damn about the political bs of EVE, this is a huge part of the RP in EVE. And now you say you have an RP background and wishing to comply with the political setup in EVE for RP reasons. This is exactly what makes EVE so wonderful, there is no fixed table you can lookup as the old school RP games, here you have a political system which is not set in stone that you can help bend and shape to your advantage. I would recommend to find a new corporation that are minmartar friendly or accept that you are a rogue Minmartar fighting for the evil Amar empire against your own kind
First of all to correct a false impression, Black Pheonix Mercenaries have no official factional standing. We have so far not decided if we go for one faction in FW. So far individual squad leaders decide for which faction they fight and the squad members usually get asked what they want.
Second, the personal bs I was mentioning is probably a bit OT, it was not FW related so forget about that. It's more about politics betwheen players, that turns people of to play the game at all...
I'm squadding up with friends and have no problem to be shot at by them if we go against each other... so no prob...

I'm hoping we can use LP to buy cross factional gear or we get all the racial vehicles in the game before this hits.
That is actually something I'm looking forward to as a challenge (I'm dedicated Masshole)...

Jade Dragonis wrote:You don't have to give up your RP wishes. Remeber that dust is about mercs. Warriors who have forgone the willingness to fight in a factional army and fight for those who pay the most.
Only alternative is to comorimise then. Keep this character and switch to a min corp. Then create an alt who is more aligned to your current corps loyalties. So you don't have to loose your friends and can fight for your own cause. As I said, this is hypothetical, I do not need to leave corp since we do not have a factional standing.
I also have two alts (one Caldari one Gallente) for RP reasons. These alts will do anything in their power (we'll see in the long run) to support their racial factions. I did this mainly, because I wanted to play the different races with their respective gear... |
