ive noticed that all someone has to do to cause extreme LAG is to first take the objective (domination)... lay down 24 drop uplinks, 53 nanohives, take the high ground, use forges and mass drivers... and bingo... the game is broke... when anyone gets close, the LAG drops the framerate so low that targeting is near impossible. request: limit the amount of equipment that either side can use TOTAL, not per equipment item, the whole team... LIMIT the teams equipment total... just like you did with vehicles. also... the equipment SPAM makes scanning useless (even detreemental, since it LAGS everybody, not just the ones close to the equipment SPAM) |

This has been known for quite some time.
What needs to happen is CCP/Shanghai has to determine what the priority is for addressing the issue.
So far, it has yet to be fixed. Any video game with many dynamic objects will slow down. Add 31 other clients all talking to the server and the problem will get worse, very quickly. |

Lag switching and equipment induced lag is two different things.
Like the kid in the video says, you have to be the host to be able to lag switch. You cannot be the host in DUST. OP's talking about equipment spamming and he's right. Especially on city maps the lag can get severe when equipment is dropped en masse to a small area.

The game needs to be able to handle it and it usually does. There is no exploit/bypass here. Logis like myself have a lot of time invested into these skills and we want to take full advantage of them. And while I am firmly against ANY restrictions on equipment use, whatsoever, one major flaw in your particular suggestion is that it would cap the equipment regardless of the quality of the equipment (standard vs. proto) and the deployment location of the equipment (near vs. far). He who is first to deploy his equipment would ensure that his equipment gets deployed despite the fact that there might be a particularly skilled and experienced support player who has better equipment and better judgement as to its placement on the field and therefore would help his team more if only his equipment was on the field. No thanks. |

CCP should probably simplify the equipment animation.
In the mean time an OB, concentrated MD fire, or handful of Flux grenades will destroy the majority of the equipment and restore your frame rate.
Of course that won't help if your team is out matched which is probably what allowed the opposition to have the time to lay out all that equipment in the first place. I've found that level of density only comes out when a team has uncontested control over the objective. |

Pro tip: Options -> Video -> Effect Detail. Set it to low. Do the same for texture detail. I've had 0 framerate problems since making this change. |
