In theory, since Amarr weaponry is photon based, you could reflect the beams with a highly reflective surface, such as chrome or a a silver backed mirror. Though, science still dictates that thermal energy would still be transferred, though to a much lower degree and to really only the surface of the material.
I suppose the question is, why aren't the Minmatar running around in shiny disco suits to deflect some of the damage? Sure beats their dark clothing that would, in theory, only absorb more of the radiant energy.
Now you must forgive me for trying to apply fundamentalist science to a pseudo scientific, sci-fi game.

The beams are so intense that even a small scratch or smudge or any other unavoidable on the reflective surface would cause instant catastrophic failure.

You know..in the future it would be cool to have maps with a shiny reflective walls or something that allowed you to bounce shots from a scrambler or laser.
How awesome would that be?! Kinda like that weapon from Resistance |

at least their pistols are electrolasers, which create a plasma channel(basically, almost 0 resistance) to the target and fry them with a massive burst of electricity. so, a metal surface(or really, anything it hits first) would still get the full shock while the laser itself bounces off and continues to create that plasma channel. suddenly, the pistol's effectiveness goes up to 11 in a lightning storm. |

Well, not all lasers are photon based. |

The hell? Please enlighten me, as someone with multiple degrees in that... I really shouldn't have said laser, I should have said directed energy weapon. I've just gotten used to calling DEWs "lasers", because I don't really want to explain to people. |

If we ran around in shining armor to reflect the Amarrians attacks back at them, the Imperial idiots would end up killing themselves, sure it'd be funny for awhile..but in the end it would take the fun away from us |

No... it would destroy it instantly.
Maybe if it were a bit less fragile, like a really shiny metal surface - then it would. But what you did there is the equivalent of trying to bounce back a bullet on a paper surface.

A very interesting question. Any passerby scientist want to hypothesize why? |
