Protostompers are not the boogeyman. Sure, some games are kinda destined to be lost simply because you can see the other team has great players but this defeatist behavior is pathetic. Not first setback, bro. Been playing since last Feb. little has changed and NOTHING has improved...yet. So now, my policy is "I'll try it out from time to time, but I'm not going to get splattered all over the map and keep coming back for more punishment. Why should anybody? I don't buy this idea that people get so overwhelmed because of imbalance. I think that maybe, just maybe, some people might wonder if they are just below average at playing the game and maybe, just maybe, that that is perfectly fine.
I dunno, I think the matchmaking issue is a credible complaint, I have played games that pretty clearly point to need for a better matchmaking system in dust. I think my favorite was yesterday it paired my squad of LOTIS with 9 A.O.D., only one person on our side was in an npc corp and only one person on their side had proto gear. It was kinda hilarious how fast they got redlined, it took like 10 minutes for the skirmish match to be over cause they got killed so freakin fast lol. And this isn't an isolated incident either, it's just the most recent and extreme. But still, as funny as it was to watch, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people on the other team uninstalled dust afterwards. The new player experience is a joke, and even though we can say other games have bad matchmaking sometimes it's a little more forgiving on most of them. Most other FPS's people are coming from don't have tiers set up the way DUST does so when you go up against a team of higher level players as long as your guns skills are on par or better than theirs you got the same chance as them to win gun fights. On dust though you could start shooting a guy first, get multiple hits then he just turns around and drops you in 2 seconds. Then you see the screen that shows even after hitting him he has 3x the hp you do in the same type of suit and it's no wonder people stop playing this game, new players just don't have enough time to get much benefit out of the new player experience when it can easily be over in a single match. |
